Glock 29 10mm

It will recoil a little less then a .357mag smith revlover.

It isn't "viscous" by any standard. My take is it feels about like +P 45 ACP in a G30, both of which are easily controllable with a little practice.

Don't listen to people behind the counter in gunshops or gun range wannabes. Find out for your self and make your own decision.

Less than a 357 sig in a similar sized pistol to me.

The horror stories are overrated. It's no worse than .357 Mag in a similar sized pistol.

I have one. it's no big deal. The action eats up much of the recoil.

I keep hearing...

....Recoil of 10mm is not that bad.

However, it's the cost of shooting it that would bother me.

I think they have 40 conversions for the G29. And DoubleTap has defensive ammo for reasonable prices.

The first time I shot one was with 200 grain Blazer FMJs and 175 grain Winchester Silvertips. I found the recoil to be within acceptable tolerances and the accuracy great. I now own one and shoot it quite a bit - I reload, and have become quite accustemed to it. However, I have had guys at both indoor and outdoor ranges ask me what I'm shooting and comment on the muzzle blast. I have not noticed muzzle blast I would consider excessive or even greater than most .40 S&Ws, even with full power loads.

180gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1300fps - 15.25" / .96"
Recoil Energy of 10 foot pounds, and Recoil Velocity of 18 fps.

Glock 26 26 oz. loaded
147gr. Gold Dot JHP @ 1125fps - 14.00" / .66"
Recoil Energy of 6 foot pounds, and Recoil Velocity of 15 fps.

Your recoil is going up 40%.

Georgia Arms and Freakshow Mfg have great prices on 10mm ammo... as long as you are patient.

As for the G29 ... absolutely love mine! The recoil is not as bad as it is made out to be... it just takes some practice to master.

The 29 is far more tolerable to me than any .357 snub. The wide round grip frame and web of hand filling grip make the 29 and 30 very easy to shoot. I would rather shoot the 29 than a 27.
A .40 conversion barrel (all you need for the conversion) would turn it into a very soft shooter and give you access to cheaper and more plentiful ammo.

The 29 is loud but not as loud as a 2.5" L-frame 357mag (which is larger and heavier) and it has a good capacity advantage. I personally can slam a 15 rd. mag in an empty 29 than to reload any revolver, any way, 5,6,7 or 8 rds.

Just remember the smaller and lighter, the more felt recoil. If the 10mm was as bad as everybody stated it would not still be in production.

The Glock doesn't fit my paw very well so I don't care for it. If and when the 1911 is offered in a compact 10mm I will get it.

I have one and it is great fun! Recoil isnt that bad, but it will fatigue your hands alittle after going through a box or 2. It sounds great too!

Got a G30 instead.

I was able to shoot a G29 at a GSSF Match. One of the Glock guys brought his personal G29 and loaned it to several shooters to try. We had a couple of boxes of Blazer to shoot up. It was fun to shoot and remarkably accurate. The grip is wide wgich distributes the recoil over a larger area than the G27. I would rather shoot a G29 than a G27. I have been shooting and competing with Glock for many years. The cost of ammo is greater. Look into the new G29sf. My G30sf is much easier to shoot accurately than the standard G30

10mm is expensive... like comparing premium duty ammo for 40s&w to 10mm target fmj...

Its a little more kick then the 26, also bigger and wider too, but it is a whole lot more fun to shoot and for a ccw pistol, the 10mm has few rounds that compare in stopping power when loaded with full power loads and premium hollow points.

I have a 27 and a 29. I have a .357 sig barrel for the 27 and compared to the 10mm, 357 duty loads are about even for felt recoil with 10mm target loads.

but its fun as hell to load up with some full power 10mm and blast away... scares the hell out of people when that loud a blast comes out of suck a small pistol...

The G29 is a great little compact blaster. It's my edc.
I had my grip reduced by Bowie Tactical. Made a big
difference to me in gripping this little sucker. The G20
mags fit also which gives you 15 more rounds if you so
desire. A sleeve is available to fill the extra void.

I reload, so pratice ammo isn't all that expensive.
My carry rounds are Winny 175 Silvertips. It seems
to like these very much.

If you haven't shot a 10mm of any kind, your missing
a segment of handgunning that everyone should experience.
10's are so versatle. You can run anything from 135gr up to
220gr. Hot loads or soft plinkers. With the G29 you can also
go with a 40S&W or 357Sig drop in replacement barrels and have
even more choices.

What's not to like?

Carry mine almost every day, if you are a veteran pistol shooter and not a newbie, the 10mm is very tame.
