I didn't get ANYTHING for Christmas...A Ruger Redhawk might have lightened my holidays up a bit...lol

How much are those selling for these days? The one I saw at the store about 2 months ago was selling for $3000. I was there that day to buy a Sig 556 SWAT model for half that price.

I paid 2600 +. I really like it. Have not had a chance to sight it in yet. Feels very good.

Everything I've read about it, guys are loving the uni-rail, folding buttstock, and the ability to swap barrels. It's also being touted as one rifle to replace several different AR10 and M14 variants in the 7.62 NATO role.

The grip is the standard AR grip which is something else I dislike about the AR, but that is easily fixed with the MagPul variant. The only model that is available to us civilians right now is the L for Light IIRC. We mere civilians don't get a shot at the H (heavy). Yet.

As to swapping barrels. A) I don't think any different barrels are available to us civilians at this time. Yet. It is much easier to change barrels on the XCR. There are no other barrels for the SCAR that I know of for we civilians.

I am thinking of converting and dedicating my XCR to 7.62x39 caliber. Cheap and it works well, from the folks that have done it.

Hey Fred, you are officially invited to be my secret santa from here on out. In case you were wondering, I'll go for the lower 1/3rd. Thanks!

Hey! Get in line. I have got two ex-wives, and two daughters. That is a very expensive list, trust me.

My youngest is in school here in Arizona, and my oldest at 31 just went back to Grad school, UT Austin and is getting married next year. That should be good for another 20 to 25 thousand. The upside is she is marrying a really smart guy I like, and that can afford her.

Her fiancée is an interesting guy, born in New Mexico, raised in Texas and a couple of Masters from Carnegie Mellon. Knows rifles and shotguns but knows Butkiss about handguns. Last time I was there I gave him a Ruger SR9 with 8 magazines to start with. He liked the grip better than the Glock I would have given him. I took him shooting and bought him a "new guy" shooting class. He just needs to get familiar with and trained on handguns. If he was local, I would do it myself.

(You know the difference between a wife and a daughter?.......................... You can't get rid of a daughter.)

Good luck, and to all and your loved ones, a very safe, prosperous and Happy New Year.

Fred

I got a weapon for Christmas and now I am shocked at all the red tape that is involved. I did not know what a circus the whole process has begun. What have we done to this great nation of ours?

I was looking around the web and stumbled onto site after site ie: http://GunPermitInfo.com
and I am soooo sad I have not been more active in the battle. I was a marine about 25 years ago and I bought guns all the time. Now I feel like I am a criminal when the only thing I want to do is get myself a gun!!!!

I like the 45's myself, I guess that shows my age in the Corps!
Semper Fi! and pass me that NRA application!

I got a sip p239 my brother got a glock 17 and my mom got a ruger 357 w/ crimson trace grips. Santa is a wonderful man

To me from me: Ruger SR9 on Christmas Eve

In most states of the USA you do not have to bother with registration of a handgun. I know California is one exception and there maybe be one or two more states that are exceptions. Generally you have the right to keep and bear arms and can ignore anyone who tells you otherwise and wants your money for the privelege. Hell, I'll sell you a permit to speak your own mind if you send me $100 by PayPal. :)

Got a cylinder for the old Blackhawk I took in as an orphan without a cylinder.

I got my oldest son his first handgun. A ruger 22/45 with a 5 1/2 inch barrel and adjustable sights. He just turned 22 so I got him one.

My son got a new-to-him Walther P5. My wife got a NIB Walther PK380. I got some ammo for my trouble ... but it's better to give than to receive, anyway. Right?
