Has anyone seen these Mueller Optics?

I have a Mueller on a .22, and it works quite well. I have no idea of they're durable enough for something with actual recoil, or if the optical clarity is sufficient for shooting in low-light conditions beyond 100 yds, but it has been great for what I've used it for.

Mike

PS This is not to say that I've seen things on the scope that make me doubt its durability or clarity, just that I have not really pushed it to find its limitations.

I... dont think they are made in america. However I do have that model on my .22, and I like it.

I'm pretty sure they're Japanese optics. Now, whether those optics are assembled in the USA, Japan or China is not clear.

I'm on vacation right now, but I;m pretty sure its the APV model that I have on my 10/22, and it works great.

I have their 4-16x 50mm AO on my Savage 12FV and really like it. No complaints or issues so far.

I thought the only Japan made scope in their lineup was the Tac II. Everything else is China made.

The APT is a fairly new model. It is basically their APV with a milldot and target turrets. Still China made. My APV was made in China as well.

That said it is about as nice of a China made scope as there gets. They clearly state not to use the scope on magnum chamberings. I have asked directly and they state it is fine on .308-.30-06 rifles, but anything heavier than that is beyond the build capabilities of the scope. I am glad to see an honest company state more realistic limits rather than claim some $50 scope is 50BMG rated.

The glass is fairly clear, a slight step down from Japan made glass, but a big step up from a lot of other China made scopes. The turrets are audible and fairly tactile in their adjustment, though they do not match most of the Japan made turrets out there. Again quite a bit better than most of the China made turrets I have felt.

One of the biggest benefits to Mueller is their support. You can get answers to most questions through the rimfirecentral forums. If not a call or email gets things squared away quickly. They are very helpful and their warranty rivals Leupold. I have seen multiple instances where Mueller went above and beyond to make sure every customer was satisfied. A few instances where customers had unrealistic expectations and Mueller had no hesitation to do as much as any supplier could possibly do.

Their TacII is a very nice scope for a great price. Certainly underestimated by many who have not experienced it. Their China made scopes are better than any other China made scopes I have seen, though I have no experience with Pentax and hear even better things about them. They do not measure up to Japan made glass, but they typically run about half the cost as well. I think they are a good step up from junk China scopes if a decent Japan scope can't be afforded and the rifle is going to be a rimfire to medium recoiling centerfire.

I've had a APV on my bench .22 for about five years and it's a fantastic scope for the money. The optics are really good. It's assembled in China with Japanese optics.

I've had a TAC II on an M1A for three years now and I think it's an even better bargain than the APV. The TAC II is assembled in Japan I believe.

I see they have some new models, I think I see a new scope in my future.

Mueller customer service and warranty are second to none. I called them twice before I bought and was always impressed with the rep I talked with.

I have both the APV (on my CZ 453 shown below) and the APT you referred to. The APT is based on the APV design, and has similar physical dimensions, but offers a 30mm tube, target turrets and mildot reticule. I mounted the APT in an inexpensive CAA DVSR One Piece Scope Mount and use it on my S&W M&P 15-22. I believe that the scope and mount are durable enough to use on an AR15 (.223) and plan to test it on mine when I have time. They’re are very nice scopes for the money. I purchased both through Dennis at Mizzou Mule Guns, who was great to deal with.

I stumbled across this website, as you can't find their products on cabela's. Made in America, and have a limited lifetime warranty.
I've never seen a Mueller scope made in America. Every one I've seen, came from China.

I have a Mueller 4-16x50 Tac on a 30-06 bolt gun. Round count is approx 1k and no problems. Eventually I'd like to upgrade, but it is a great scope for the money.
Yeah I was looking for something to put on my 10fp that is on its way :)

Wasn't sure if the scope could handle the .308 though...

I have a 8.5-25x44 Tac on a .223. It came on the rifle when I bought it and has worked pretty well for the small amount of time I have had it.

Definitely not as clear as my old Leupold Mk4 that I had on a Savage 10FP, but then again it costs half the price and is pretty clear.

I'm pretty sure the Mueller Eraticator I have on my Savage .17HMR was made in China, at least when I returned it due to condensation inside the optic that's what I was told by the Mueller rep I spoke with. Something about a problem with the lense coatings a few years back. No problems getting it fixed right up, though. Great customer service, no worries there.

3.25 inch eye relief is more than adequate for a rimfire. Eye relief in general is one of the draw backs of all lower cost scopes. I was concerned about the TAC II on my M1A but it's not a problem, or at least it hasn't hit me yet. I have to pay attention to the position of the flip-up scope cover.

I passed on the Mueller, I've had bad luck with the Cabela imports and Cabela's so called "gaurentee" which they did not honor.
I bought a Redfield instead, made in Portland OR at the Leupold plant, with a lifetime warranty. Why should I send more money to China? It's like putting cash in the pocket of the DNC!

I've put quite a few very hot 30-06 loads through my rifle with no scope bite. 3.25" is plenty enough eye relief for a .308.

I've had this scope for over 3 years, and it has been on two different 30-06 rifles, one a lightweight hunting gun, the other a heavy barrel bench/target shooter. I keep meaning to upgrade to a USO or Nightforce, but the Mueller has exceeded my expectations. $1K or more is a lot to spend on a scope when you are just paying for extra optical clarity and overbuilt (for my purposes) ruggedness. If you want a good value scope on a limited budget for your .308 you can't go wrong with the Mueller. If you haven't looked at the Falcon scopes they are also a good value, but hard to find at times.

I hate to break the news to you but go check the box/scope again to see if it says "Made in the USA" anywhere. Most of Leupold's lines no longer carry that saying as at least the glass on most models is from Asia. Maybe it is being assembled here, but Leupold, like the rest, has moved out of country. Good luck with the Redfield. I hope it works well. Not my first choice but I hope it works out for you.

Also, Mueller isn't a Cabela's brand/Cabela's exclusive. They have been around for a while now. Their support/service staff is located in Michigan. Your money may in part be heading overseas with Mueller, but it does with EVERY other scope manufacturer so you might as well get used to it or use iron sights.
