I am confused... why do guys have this phrase put on the inside of the dust cover - it says <something quite offensive> -- Sam.

Actually Tad, if you read the thread you linked to, they explain where it came from.

Apparently it is a line from a movie.

But so what? It's from a movie. I don't put Braveheart's war speech on mine - what does it mean? It doesn't really explain other than to say 'it's from Team America'. I guess I kinda-sorta get it though, with hankdatank's explanation - directed to the recipient of the bullet... yeah, because you holding a gun and pointing at him wouldn't reveal an ominous intent until the dust cover flies open.... just pretty stupid if you ask me.

Exactly! That's why I could never figure it out.

But thats whats so great about America, someone makes a product abd they find a market for it, maybe not you, maybe not me, but it sells, and thats what we're all about

Im gonna assume you are probably a little older. I know several soldiers who would put that on their rifle if they could.

As part of the younger generation of soldiers and shooters I can see why this is popular. We grew up in a media world. Spend some time with Soldiers or Marines and you are bound to hear one liners from movies and TV being used. We used <deleted> -- Sam a lot when I was in. Thats a line from the Chapelle Show.

I will buy one of thos dust covers.

There isn't a whole lot you can do to differentiate your dustcover from any other dustcover, except laser engrave something on it.

You may not have bought one (and neither did I), but judging by the pictures over at arfcom, lots and lots of people bought them, so clearly there was a market.

i think there's an actual unit in the army now called "bohica". just what i've heard, anyone else got info on this?

gunnie
