Anyone Load For A Remington 700 SPS Tactical In .308?

I just received one of these rifles and it is my understanding the 20" barrel has a 1 in 12 twist rate. I was told by the seller that he shot 168gr. bullets in this gun and they shot great. I would be interested in knowing if anyone has tried 140 gr. to 150 gr. Nosler BT's in one of these guns (or in any rifle with a 1 in 12 twist rate). If yes, any favorite loads for deer hunting? Thanks for all the help. I took her to the range today after loading up 5 different loads to see if I could come up with a starting point to work from. I found the this gun has what I consider a pretty deep chamber. If I loaded to the lands using Hornady 165 gr SST bullets the O.A.L. would have been 2.930 (after an allowance of .015 hundredths). I could see that using this bullet that at this length that I wouldn't have the thickness of the bullet seated in the case so I set the O.A.L. of 10 rounds to 2.910 and another 10 to 2.810 (as suggested by 918v). I loaded another 10 using Sierra GK 165 GR. Spitzer Boat Tail and 20 more with Hornady 168 GR A-Max. I loaded the A-Max close to the load recommended by 918V (thank you!), 10 with a O.A.L. of 2.835 and the other 10 at 2.910 (.035 from the lands). Before shooting my reloads I shot a box of Winchester 150 Grain Power-Points (mainly for the fire formed brass) and was very pleased with the way these shot from this gun. With the help from a friend I was able to get it sighted in and hitting in and around the 10 ring in only 3 shots (sometimes it can take several more just to get it on paper). After it was sighted in the remainder I shot a 2" 5 shot group and my buddy shot a 1 1/4" group at 100 yds. We then took it over to the 300 yd. range and shot at and hit 5 steel plates with the last 7 rounds. I then went back to the 100 yd and started trying the reloads. The Hornady SST's didn't group all that well using 45 grs of Varget. I then tried the Hornady 168 gr. A-Max using 44.4 grs. of Varget with a O.A.L. of 2.910 and I couldn't believe how great these bullets performed. The first 3 would have covered a dime and the 4th opened the group up to about 1" and the 5th was right there with the other 4. The only thing that is making me hesitant about hunting with this rifle now is the weight. I think it weighs about 12 lbs. What I do like about it, is the short barrel.
