Most shoot a SA or striker fired pistol for consistent trigger control. It is required to engage any external safeties before holstering a loaded pistol, and on the 92FS it is also a decocker, so first trigger pull will be DA. However shoot what you have, it will work, you will need at least 5 magazines for ISPC, 4 mag pouches, and a strong side holster like a Blade Tech. I recommend using what you have and shoot in the next match you can, it is a lot of fun and a good way to hone your skills. Later on you may want to get a SA pistol, but the 92FS is a safe reliable, good shooting pistol right out of the box, just what you need to get started.

Simply replace the stock hammer spring with a stock 1911 hammer spring like most of the troops are doing. You will be amazed at the difference. The worst kept secret in the military.

I honestly don't see why a Beretta Steel I variant of the 92 couldn't be just as effective as a 1911 seein as it was a single action.
