While checking the local pawn shop earlier this week, I found a nice Sears Ranger pump action rifle. They wanted 129.00 I only had 110.00 DEAL!

I got it home and other than being dirty as heck and a small bit out of the stock in the wrist area, this rifle is very nice. I've been looking for a decent pump action .22 for years, and the Henry, Taurus and Rossi's were way out of my price range. So I am stoked to get this one. It is a post war model with a round barrel, the sight are standard sheet metal rear with elevator and post front.

I've been trying to find a serial number reference to find out when it was manufactured but no luck so far. Does anyone know of a site which lists the serial # info for these fun rifles?

I'm posting pics, I think....

It has a Serial #

More than likely it doesn't have a serial number, I know mine doesn't.
This one has a serial number ending in L I know that the last digit is something to do with the style of weapon. Some that have a K as the last digit manufactured before WWII have checkering in the wrist area and don't have the tootsie roll forend, they are checkered also. I'm trying to find a guide listing the serial #'s so I can get a year of manufacture for my insurance records.

"Good score! How's it shoot? If you want to turn a quick profit, I'll offer $125.

And nope not for sale. I already plan on giving it to my #2 daughter on her 18th birthday, as she shoots .22 wicked good. She wants the Heritage Arms rough rider pistol but that's my plinker.

That splinter will fill nicely. Flatten the joining surface, bit of walnut and file t contour. Oil to finish :)
Not sure I will fill it in right now. I don't have my tools for refinishing stocks, until I get
them back I'll just leave it as is. Thank you for the info though.

Oh c'mon, give her the rough rider to go with the pump, it's already got heirloom quality since it's yours. You know you will anyway. ;) Then you get to get yourself another one.

Sorry, I should have checked my records before I replied.

Yes mine does have a serial # 666x-K, hope that 666 doesn't make it unlucky.

Again, Sorry for the screw-up.

Additional checking, even tho mine has the serial number ending with a "K" it has no checkering in the wrist and does have the tootsi roll fore end.

On the ending in K I was going by the results I found through google. one was a post on the Firing Line, I don't have the link handy, but the poster said that some of the rifles with the ser # ending in K had the checkering on the stock and forend.
