Sears Ranger 102.35 = Savage model 29b-D2

While checking the local pawn shop earlier this week, I found a nice Sears Ranger pump action rifle. They wanted 129.00 I only had 110.00 DEAL!

I got it home and other than being dirty as heck and a small bit out of the stock in the wrist area, this rifle is very nice. I've been looking for a decent pump action .22 for years, and the Henry, Taurus and Rossi's were way out of my price range. So I am stoked to get this one. It is a post war model with a round barrel, the sight are standard sheet metal rear with elevator and post front.

I've been trying to find a serial number reference to find out when it was manufactured but no luck so far. Does anyone know of a site which lists the serial # info for these fun rifles?

This one has a serial number ending in L I know that the last digit is something to do with the style of weapon. Some that have a K as the last digit manufactured before WWII have checkering in the wrist area and don't have the tootsie roll forend, they are checkered also. I'm trying to find a guide listing the serial #'s so I can get a year of manufacture for my insurance records.

And nope not for sale. I already plan on giving it to my #2 daughter on her 18th birthday, as she shoots .22 wicked good. She wants the Heritage Arms rough rider pistol but that's my plinker.

Not sure I will fill it in right now. I don't have my tools for refinishing stocks, until I get
them back I'll just leave it as is. Thank you for the info though.

On the ending in K I was going by the results I found through google. one was a post on the Firing Line, I don't have the link handy, but the poster said that some of the rifles with the ser # ending in K had the checkering on the stock and forend.
