I'm looking to get into a 9mm and my local lgs has these for sale for right around the same price. The Taurus shows some holster wear as does the browning. I would put them in the same grade as far as condition goes. So, what would you guys recommend?

Thanks
Adam

If they are truly in the same or similiar condition, the Taurus is way over priced OR the HP is way UNDER priced.

Go with the High Power and dont look back

I would have to say that in similar condition, the Browning Hi-Power would definitely be my first choice over the Taurus PT-99.

Is it a Browning high power, FM (argentinian) High Power or an, FEG clone (not a true clone)?

I've been a died in the wool revolver guy for 40+ years, even though I've owned a few bottom feeders. The Browning H.P. is the only one I wish I had not sold, and the only one I would consider buying again.

Either buy an High Power now or wish in 10 years you had bought one when you could have.

I'm starting to wonder myself if that Browning is a clone and not a true Browning. Both guns are $325 and I have yet to see a HP for anything close to that. I'll have to take a second look at it today.

Thanks

I have a hunch its either an Argy FM gun, which is a licensed copy of the FN hi-power, or an FEG which is a clone.

At $325, its not a terrible price for an Argy, true its probably a little high, but, not terribly so.

For an FEG, its high, AND its a clone.

If its an Argy, I STILL say go for it, it IS a licensed copy and there is a certian amount of parts interchangability between it and a FN gun AND still a "better" gun than the Taurus

$325 for a PT99 is about $300 too much. I had one for years but it was one problem after another, some minor, some serious. I just got sick of the unreliability, sold it and got a Glock 19.

Between the two, by all means the BHP (if that is what it is).

Dan

BHP all the way, even if it's a Charles Daly, which is an FEG, which is a clone but a very well made one.

ok, I'm only going on MY experience: had a pt 99..100% reliable, you could shoot rocks in the thing. Had an actual Browning Hi-power..it was a DOG...only fed FMJ and bit my hand every shot. Plus the pt was lefty friendly. I have had tons of Tauruses all great guns. Currently have a pt945 that I would put up against any 1911. It didn't cost me an extra $1000 to get it to work.

Just went and took a better look at the Browning. Its an FEG and is missing the rear site. They wouldn't budge on the $325 tag so I walked away.
