I've never had any problems out of my Taurus PT99. The design is basically the same as the Beretta, so it has all of the advantages and the drawbacks of that design. Mine is an earlier model, and has the ambidextrous safety on the frame, instead of on the slide. I like that arrangement better, myself; it's more convenient to reach. The Browning feels thinner, and better balanced in the hand, and is probably somewhat more concealable than the PT99, which really needs a shoulder holster under a loose jacket to hide from sight. The PT99 has a magazine capacity of 15 versus the Browning's 13, unless you're in a state that limits you to 10. The Browning HP is a single action, unless you get the BDA model; I carry the Taurus hammer down, safety on, and DA for the first shot.
It fits my need for a high-capacity 9mm fine, though if I were going to replace it at this point, I'd probably go with a Glock instead of the Browning HP.
