Useless Firearms In Your Collection

I shoot all my guns a good bit, but if i had to choose it would be the taurus judge. It is more of a novelty gun, but i love to shoot it and have never had any problems with it.

I own a pair of Russian Nagant revolvers. Weak, slow to load, not very accurate, but with one in each hand their a lot of fun to blast with.

Henry Survival rifle that was gifted to me to stow in the back of my small Cessna aircraft "in case I ever go down." Hahaha. Most of the flying I do is in the northeast, so in the unlikely event that I will ever have to put it down in an emergency, it will probably be in a mall parking lot or golf course. I doubt that I'll get out of the aircraft and start shooting squirrels.

Maybe you will be within gliding range of a golf course, even with a useless, windmilling prop, but those forests in upstate are often vast.
Hopefully your fuel selector lever is in a better place than was the case with John Denver's experimental type (vertigo/ "the leans"?).

I'm no good with the classic sights and that's why it is for sale, FTF only near Elvis Land.

I have lots of guns that don't shoot at all.

Super Commanche 45/410, not sure it ever had a purpose, asides from being el cheapo judge. Single shot, slow reload, 45lc gets 9inch groups at 7yds, just a legit short gun (10in barrel) that shoots shotgun loads = legal sawed off I like to call it, even though I know it's technically incorrect.

So, who owns guns that you don't really need and may never use them for their intended purposes?

That would describe a lot of my guns. Like does one have a need for more than 2 or 3 357 revolvers. I'm not saying you have to have a need, desire is all that's required.

+1 to Hetetic's Nagant revolver. I really enjoy shooting mine but the commercial loads currently available are pretty darn weak and the gun is definately slow to load (though mine is decently accurate, not great but not shabby).

I have a couple guns that I don't enjoy shooting and keep them anyway because I feel like I should have them. How kooky is that?

Isn't that an oxymoron? No, all of my revolvers are tools that get used as Intended. The only revolver I own that I do not carry is my from time to time is my 6" N frame, its' just to big to tote around much. Yet if I had to pick one revolver to take into harms way it would be the N frame.

+1 on earlthegoat's naa mini. That, and some of my wartime stuff: ie, Walther P38, Beretta 1934; if I need to grab n' go with a 9 or .380, I've got a number of modern pieces that kick those old bags to the curb big time. I'm still not selling them though.

Lots of folks love 10/22s, but mine is among my least shot guns. I use it to shoot squirrels, and that is about it. If I want to shoot a .22, I'll usually use my M44US.

Useless is a pretty strong word, and applying it to any of my guns is probably a bit too far.

The gun that I find the 'least useful', I suppose, is my Mossberg bolt action 16 gauge.

I only bought it because it was a cheap oddball in an oddball caliber. Kinda neat in that regard.

I have a Compact Polymer 10mm from EAA.

It flings the expensive brass so far I don't soot it anywhere but the indoor range. >.<

I'm sure it's a great SD pistol and all ... but I have plenty of those that I can practice with already.

I don't have any that are useless BUT there are several that are just for fun. In fact, the majority of guns in almost anyone's collection are primarily for leisure.

I guess all of my guns are "useless." I have three single actions that I doubt I'll ever do anything but practice with and keep for protection, and will probably never use for such, and have used in films. I have two shotguns that I'll never hunt with, because I don't hunt, and again, probably won't be used to protect myself, though they're there for it. And two double actions that'll likely be in the same category as the singles.

It all depends on how you define "intended purpose". I have a nice SA 1903 I got from the CNP . I likely won't ever use it as a battle rifle, but it sure serves its purpose as a cool piece of history that I'll be able to pass on to my kids. I'd say that's useful in its own way.

I owned the same CZ-75 (pre-b) for 25 years and loved it so much I just bought a new one (shadow custom from cz custom shop). I don't plan to use it in combat and doubt I'll need it for home defense, but it is ready at a moment's notice. I have a Kahr PM9 that is extremely light and accurate but not very fun or easy to shoot well, though I have put enough rounds through it that I feel confident in it for concealed carry. That is it.... my neighbor however --- OMG, he has an arsenal of weapons quite literally and only shoots 3 of them with any frequency.

The original question presumes that the only "use" for a gun is shooting it, and that, ergo, if you don't shoot it, it's "useless."

However, for a true-blue gun collector, the collection itself is the primary "use" for the gun(s). In fact, for some collectors, actually shooting the gun would diminish its value, and therefore make it less "useful."

The very question is a contradiction in terms.

A great friend from the Army gave me the first production guide gun for the year in .450 caliber. It is a beautiful rifle with a 16 1/2 inch barrel that dislocates your shoulder every time you shoot it. Maybe one day when I visit him in Alaska I will take it as back up but until then it stays in a sock inside the safe. But I would not call it useless, you never know when I might have to bring out the big guns and shoot down a car or rhino.

I did take it hunting one year for deer but luckily never saw any deer close enough to shoot that year all were over 150 yds away so my ought six stepped in for the kill.
