case lube spray- which brand?

I use Hornady One Shot. Your buddy's method will work just fine. It doesn't take much. A little goes a long way.

I have found over the years that all spray lubes are about the same. However if you have a tough sizing job like FL sizing of large volume rifle cases or case forming the best lube to use is Imperial Sizing Wax...bar none.

I have not had much luck with spray lubricants on bottle neck cases. Maybe my method, maybe the lubricant, maybe both. So, I use either Imperial Sizing Wax or a case lube pad.

The only place i use spray lubricants these days are on 30 Carbine. Works great but I feel it is wasteful. All my other straight walled cases have carbide sizing dies and i don't use lubricant with them.

I use spray lubes to lube handgun brass and 30 cal. carbine brass. to make life easier. Not needed but I'm lazy.

For all rifle brass I use a lube like Unique, never a spray lube.

I tried one shot, got a stuck case and ruined the die trying to remove it. Switched to a good ol lube pad, no problems since.

Ditto above. I like One Shot for straight cases, even with carbide dies. It's not enough for bottleneck cases. For .223 I use Lyman case lube and find it adequate, but have not tied others so can't say how it compares.

Dillon lube or make your own with alcohol and lanolin.

I use dry silicone spray on pistol cases along with carbide die. I use various lubes on rifle cases from one-shot to simple motor oil(applied very sparingly), bag balm, lanolin mixed with alcohol and RCBS case lube.

Yupe.

Spray on lubes suck for rifle case sizing. I small base size when ever I can. Imperial Sizing wax or RCBS water soluble for me.

Something that discovered on this forum and have been using on my turret press...the RCBS lube die. It puts just the right amount of lube on .223 cases so the they size easily but are not all messy. I have been using Imperial but I can really recommend this tool. It would probably work well on a single stage. You could batch lube fifty or a hundred at a time and set them in loading blocks then put in your sizing die and size them all. Much quicker than using Imperial and lubing each case by hand. I've never tried spray lubes...too much bad press.

Dillon spray works good.

If you can't find 99% alcohol, HEET isopropyl dry gas should work.
I still have a tin of Mink Oil leather treatment, if I just rub my finger tips over it it's good for 10 or so pistol cases.
Hmmmm.... Mink Oil & dry gas as a home-made spray?

I tried One Shot for the first time just a few days ago. I did get one stuck case but it came out pretty easy and no damage to the die. I just sprayed a bit more on the rest of the cases and no problem(223). I like it, but if I have to small base some brass, I will probably use my old rcbs pad and lube.

Can't tell if it is lube or propellant on the case when using spray lubes like one-shot. If they would color the lube it might help. I went back to the pad after a stuck 308 case. Too much trouble getting the case out. I also get another QC check on the case.

I've been using Dillon for about 10 yrs. but used Lee dry lube for a couple decades before that.

The Dillon works excellent and won't dent sholders as long as you allow it to completely dry, other wise, dents, and possible stuck cases could be the result. I've been fortunate in that I've never stcuk a case with any lube, but with spray on lube it's completely avoidable if you let them dry for a bit.

The Dillon bottle is clear. After it sits on the shelf for an hour or so, you can see the yellow lube settle on the bottom. Shake well prior to lubing.

I also use 99% Isoprolyl Alcohol and Lanolin. The same as the Dillon lube, but cheaper. A couple of shots into a gallon sized ziplock bag, then mix it up real good. After that, pour the cases into a box or onto a pan and let the alcohol evaporate off. A nice uniform coating of Lanolin that will slide the cases in and out but not so much that it will cause shoulder dents.

I use 1 shot, but it sure takes a lot to size my 223's. I tried a bowl and a bag and a box, and a tray, but ended up having to use a loading block and spray pretty heavily on all sides.

I used to use it on my 30 carbines, but then I discovered that if I just size them half way I don't need to lube them at all, and they still cycle fine. (same principle as a 9mm. As long as it chambers, why resize that whole tapered case. It's hard on the press, and hard on the arm.)

Another vote for Alcohol and Lanolin. Inexpensive and a bottle will last a longggg time. And it works great. Empty a quart-sized ziplock, spray a couple mists into the bag, dump in the brass and roll it around for a minute or so - comes out evenly lubed.

I've used nothing but One Shot for 8 years now, I think it's the greatest. I have friends that swear at it though it has always worked for me. Before using really shake the can well and you'll have no problems.
