I picked up a Glock 27, used, and it doesn't have any front strap checkering between the finger grooves. Was this standard at some point in time? What Gen is this?

Thanks. It does have backstrap checkering and checkering on the front of the trigger guard. I'm wondering if it may have been a customization. The gun was refinished in cerakote so maybe they took off the checkering when they did the finish...I don't know.

Actually, there are no Gen 1 G26s or 27s, as they were introduced in 1995. I have an early G26...but not where I can get at it tonight. I believe it has the frontstrap checkering. I can tell you for sure in a few days, if you still need the info.

attachment.jpg I'm pretty sure that it has to be customized. As far as I know, the finger grooves started in generation 3 and they all have the checkering.

I can tell you the year if you give me the first three numbers on the frame.

It's an early second gen glock. They added the checkering in between the fingers when the model 33 came along.

It's called a Gen 2.5 by the Glock community. The very first G26's and G27's didn't have checkering between the finger grooves, they had an adjustable plastic rear sight, and a guide rod with a black plastic base. The newest guide rods for the sub-compacts have a silver metal base.

I see you've already got your answer, but I did say I'd check. Yes, my early G26 has finger grooves, no checkering on the front strap.

The first G26s and G27s had BMX and BMY for prefixes. I have a later B--.
