Did you shoot to ring in the new year?

I took my K98 to the range, and my buddy brought his savage 110 270. Had a blast, got big plans for my gun collection next year....

Not today for New Years, but my daughter and I went through a little more than 200 rounds at the range yesterday.

Went through around 100 .17HMR Close to 1100 .22 LR and generally had a good time knocking cans around and seeing how far I can reliably shoot the .17. Busted a bunch of 20 oz pop bottles with the .17 from 50 yards on up to the end of my personal range (somewhere between 150-175ish yards ). I ever buy the next property over and I can get around 500 yard shots, but then I'll need another gun...

Me and my bud have been teaching his kids to shoot (8 yo boy and 11 yo girl). They are getting very good and are doing very good keeping to the rules. That could be due to the fact that my bud makes each one say the rules before we leave and then when we get to the "range" before they shoot. If they break any of the rules we go over them again and he or she sits out the rest of the session. Only happened once the boy was pretty excited (very excitable kid anyway(had to set his dad out one time too to make an example, yep it was staged ) ) to be out with us.

It's been easier teaching him this stuff than tying his shoes was :banghead:

The girl was terrified of anything loud before we started. Started her shooting Aguila Sub sonics to get her used to things, now she shoots the 30-06 when I bring it as much as she can.

Sorry bout the hijack just very proud of these two.

But I don't need much of an excuse to go shoot, a pretty day and some ammo are all I have to have.

Went to the range yesterday. Not for new years but because it was 60+ degrees in MO. ARs and an assortment of handguns.

Heading over to the gun club in an hour for our regular Sunday morning skeet shooting. Probably bring along my dad's old 1911 and try out the new barrel that I just fitted. Looks like another nice, unseasonably warm day here in southern Maine. Daytime highs are forecast to be in the low 40's.

Funny you should mention that Tuner. When I was young we had a 100lb Black Lab named Bandit, and every time fireworks started going off she would crawl into the bathtub to get away from it. It got to the point that on the 4th and new years we would put a blanket in there for her. Our little Bostons however sart puffing their chest out and start a deep low growl.

I went yesterday morning as the sun was coming up to our free outdoor MO Dept of Conservation range. By myself for about 30 mins then an older gentleman showed up for about 45 mins. Then had the range again to myself for another 45 mins. Nice! After that the croud started slowly rolling in. By noon I was packing it up. I was able to try out a few new loads for the .45 blackhawk, sight in my new red dot on my 686 @ 25 and 50 yards and some general paper punching with my Ruger MKII. In the process I shot about 400 rounds. It was a good day!

Myself, my wife, grand daughter, future son-in-law and a guy from work went up to the farm and shot for about 3 hours yesterday.

The closest I got was Friday. I took two of my grandkids.I only took .22s. He is 8 and she is 5 so single shot .22 work very well. They shot maybe 100 rounds. I was surprised they didn't seem to be bothered by the bigger guns others were shooting. Lots of noise and big grins. She needs a little more help with sight alignment. I hope next time I'll have help so I can one-on-one with her.

Since it was kids day...I only shot six rounds.

Can't go shooting around here.Started snowing and blowing yesterday,got a couple inches and still blowing &drifting today.Thats why I HATE Wisconsin.

Fired up the belt-fed's last night at midnight on my personal range. Burnt up tracers from the (308) 1919 and (50BMG) M3HB. It was a real "blast".

I started bedding this new build yesterday and just finished it this morning. I am fixing to head to the ranch and see if this thing will hurl 105 Amax and 115gr DTAC 6mm's to my likings. It sill needs some tweaking here and there. Have a Nightforce scope for it,but waiting on base and rings so a Leupold will work for today.

I think a bunch of tracers at midnight would be fun.

As for the dogs, mine don't respond much to fireworks, but a friends lab goes nuts. His dog thinks it shotgun fire and there must be ducks to retrieve.

No shooting, worked until 11 last night, working today. Admin gets a 3 day weekend, we get to work to do our job and theirs.

I took an AK out in the front yard and sent 30 rounds sky high...

Does reloading about 350 rounds of 45 Colt count. It was time to fill em up. Might go out this after noon and see how well some of em got loaded. I do have a 308 with some blanks and blank firing adapter. I was thinking of when to do this but would only do it for say the 4th around noon not at midnight yesterday.

I'm just now getting ready to take my brand new Browning X-Bolt Medallion in .308 with new Leupold 3x-9x scope out to sight it in. I just put up 50 handloads with 150 grain Nosler AccuBond bullets over 48 grains of W748.

We shall see...

I went out at midnight and put ten rounds of .223 into my backstop. Heard a few other shots in the neighborhood, no big deal.

Shot a big ol hog about sundown yesterday. Twice actually.

We shot all night last night in the back yard to ring in the new year. Couple hundred rounds of 9mm, 50 rds of .380 through the new hi point, and about 50 rounds mixed of 45 colt and .410 through the judge. Had a blast.

I went yesterday spent about 21/2 hours there & had a great time.

No shooting for me today. Instead I straightened up in my reloading room, got various bags of dirty brass together. Set up my range bag for this next weekends ICORE match. Found my camera that I've been looking for. Just ordered some powder and primers. Mark

Not today but planning to do so tomorrow (range was closed and no outdoor range available, at least, to me).
