I need inspiration for a new AK project for 2012... please share cool AK pics... thanks

It's wearing an OD Magpul ACS stock and an AFG, now, and I filled in the grip-gap, but otherwise it's the same. Love it. Can't beat the satisfaction of converting your own Saigas.

Sir that is the best looking AK coversion I've seen to date! Please elaborate on the bits added. I have a stock .223 Saiga I just got to reliably work with AR mags, now on to the Bling.

I have to agree, that is the best looking AK I have ever seen. I second the motion to elaborate.

Thanks very much, gentlemen! I started with a new 5.45x39 Saiga and did the proper chop/cut/grind routine, adding an Arsenal adjustable trigger (awesome, by the way). The rail on top is an aluminum setup, which gives space for the Magpul back-up sights. The optic is an Aimpoint Comp M (older model), and I shaved off the front sight base to clean up the lines. Funny thing was, I even *gained* some sight radius, not to mention the much-improved sight picture of a ring-and-post aperture. The grip is a Magpul MOE, bolted to a grip stud converter that I got from Carolina Shooters Supply. The rail is a UTG model, and the rail covers are a mix of Magpul and UTG. The Tapco 6-position stock tube and a Magpul stock bring it nicely into the shoulder.

The ACS stock I added (not pictured) gives it more balance, and beefs up the rear-end to match the rest of the rifle. The AFG (also not pictured) lets me run the gun in my preferred thumb-over-bore method. Next step is to take it to my machinist and have him thread it 1/2x28. I foresee a suppressor in its near future, though since it took me 6 months to get my first one, it'll likely be just the kinda-near future, haha

No thanks needed, that is truly a good lookin' AK. If you have other pictures of it I would like to see them, and I think the OP might want to as well.

Will do. I'll subscribe to this thread and report back during the weekend. In the meantime, here's another Frankenstein'd AK I did, featuring front-end parts courtesy of THR's own, "Boba Debt".

It's ugly as sin, but it shoots great and feels nice.

I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm picking up an SGL-31-61 this january and I'll be getting it painted in duracoat Russian Camouflage, attach a retractable bipod to the lower handguard, and put a Leatherwood CMR on a Midwest Industries 1913 siderail mount.

Here's a traditional Ak set up. 100% authentic and used by the Russian FSB!

I've these before but will again. I absolutely love this rifle.

Waffen Werks, plum stock, Bulgarian all matching unfired parts kit on a NoDak Spud receiver. The bayonet is unissued East German, hat is Afghanistan Soviet surplus as is the canteen. Camo is Russian Flora pattern. I have eight Russian plum magazines and four Bulgarian black. Toss in about 8400 rounds of military surplus 7n6 ammo, good to go! :D

Without the bayonet...

Not necessarily an AK but a variation. This is my M72 Yugo RPK. It's a total beast especially with the cirlce 10 drum mags. It eats everything and spits em out lickety split.

dark.zero.x is that a 50 round bakelite mag?

Chopdoktor a grip in front of another grip? I've never seen that before

Moose458 dude, that's some sweet wood... is the red one Timbersmith or Russian wood
where did you get the wood for the brown one... that's sweet!

JohnnyK, since it's a bullpup, the whole rifle is centered and balanced right in front of your chest. The foregrip gives me some more control, whereas otherwise I wouldn't have a lot of room for my support hand. It almost feels like holding a handgun in the "high-ready" position. Makes muzzle rise almost nonexistent.

That's a sweet looking rifle Chopdoktor.
Browsing around on the US Palm website makes me want to pick up an AK and tune it up a bit.
