Hello,

I moved to Fayetteville a couple years ago and have been keeping an eye out for outdoor ranges. So far, the only one I have found is the Hobbs public range. Does anyone know of any membership/private outdoor ranges in the area that are taking new members? I am getting really bored of 25 yard .22 shots at Sturms :)

How far is Bald Knob from you?

Just north of Bald Knob, just west of Russell (Near hwy 67) is V.E.T.S. Outdoor Range. Really good pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc. I was up there from South of Little Rock to look it over and was impressed. Couple brothers (vets) run it on their and their family's lands. 100 per year if veteran (120 if not) for entire family. Good facilities, good guys. Google V.E.T.S. Range)

There used to be a public/free range at Weddington in the national forest. It was about 15 or 20 minutes west of Fayetteville.

Ozark Sportsmans Supply in Tontitown has another indoor range, but I don't know how long it is.

There is a private gun club in Fort Smith called the Old Fort Gun Club, but it is a long way to drive just to shoot. They hold USPSA and other matches open to the public.

There is another place a couple of miles from the Old Fort Gun Club called THOR, they go out at least 100 yards and maybe more.

Old Fort has the best facilities of the bunch, Weddington is the closest outdoor range by far (if it is still there).

K1500, thank you for the reply. The Weddington public range is closed down as far as I can tell, unfortunately, because that is a short drive. I may have to check out those Fort Smith ranges, though. It's about an hour drive, which isn't too bad on a Saturday, especially if my BiL goes with me.

Old fort is the best. Check out their website for march dates and such. Go down on a match day to check it out. They shoot almost everything except idpa, action pistol, and icore. The main range is down about 2 miles of dirt road. It is usually smooth but can he muddy if it has seen much rain.

Hey K1500,

Thanks for the reply! Fort Smith isn't too far of a drive and would definitely be worth checking out.

Good one at Berryville.

Ssshhh don't tell anyone!! :D

Probably not your closet option OP, but the Berryville range is nice and quiet with benches and a birm at 150... Just put 2 bucks in the honor box haha.

If you want long range look up The Arkansas Gun Man. Just north of Berryville and VERY nice. Separate pistol and rifles sides, and the rifle birm is out at 550 yds. $10 per hour

Sorry that I'm so late to the party. If you don't mind driving a ways, I recently heard that there's also a 700-yard range at Clarkridge. Unfortunately, that means driving to MH and heading up 201 North about another 10+ miles. You might even be smarter to see what's available in OK or MO.
