Found this last Sunday at the fun show. I'm very happy with the rifle and paid $325 OTD.

It's a SAKO with a 1896 receiver, 1944 SAKO barrel with a wartime stock, so I would guess this rifle was built in 1944 then put in storage after the fighting was over. Receiver, Barrel, Bolt, trigger guard / magazine all have matching serial numbers.

The stock has a few dings here and there but is still very nice. The bore looks bright and shiny. I ran some patches through the bore with some #9 and Sweets both came out clean.

I haven't gotten out to shoot it yet but am really looking forward to it. It balances nicely and is really easy to hold steady offhand due to the weight.

Compared to my other Mosin Nagants it has FAR Superior sights, thicker stronger stock, real sling attachments (No dog collar needed!), and a nice 2 stage trigger.

The Finns knew how to improve the M91!

Nice rifle! Good 39:s are getting harder to find all the time, especially if you insist on having matching numbers. Many have been sporterized with hunting stocks and rechambered to a larger caliber because the law used to require 8mm or larger for hunting elk/moose. I'll probably have to get myself one.

Nice.

I just recently found my M39 at a local gun shop in a rack of Mosin Nagants, and at the same price, 150 bucks. I think it got slipped in a shipment and nobody noticed. (maybe a Russian capture from the 1941-44 CW?) When saw the pistol grip and sights, took a quick look and found in good shape with nice bore. It is a 1942 Sako, 1914 Izzy receiver, all matching numbers, needless to say it followed me home.

Wait until caribou wanders across this thread and pictures. I think he'll like this once. That is beautiful.

Thanks all,

If anyone has any M39 targets, video links, 100 or 200 yrds please post em up. I want to have something to "shoot" for!

Also, if you recall point out the ammo used.

Thanks Joel

All matching Sako M 39 with nice sniper bolt and PU type mount (Not the real deal)
M-28 Home gaurd which is about as accurate as the 39 , with open sights!
