When my mother was looking for a defense oriented pistol, she was set on getting a Glock 17, and after eventually firing the M&P, walked out with one, in .40, at that, instead of the glock. Problem is, the trigger doesn't break as well as the glock that she got. Do you guys know of an improved trigger kit that you can buy and install in the gun?

Amazing stuff!

As always, it depends on how good you are with your hands and tools.

You don't need any unusual tools...although a vice is nice to help hold it while you are working on the slide.

Take a look at the YouTube videos to see if you'd feel comfortable doing the work yourself.

What is nice able the Apex Tactical Specialties kits is that you can buy the complete Duty/Carry kit (D/CAEK) for less than postage to send you pistol to a smith for tuning. It meets the needs of 90% of the users. For the other 10%, they have the FSS (Forward Set Sear), 9mm extractor (competition), solid trigger, and custom fitting. The also have additional parts in the pipeline to further optimize the platform

Nothing special pic of my 9c

Dondavis,

Nice piece. I would consider a DA/SA in the future. right now my only DA/SA is a P38 GI bringback.

I can't wait to get to Texas....

If you can put together a piece of furniture, you can install the Apex kits.

I went with the full competition kit for my Pro, and must admit it was a little scary stripping down a brand new $600+ gun, but the instructions on Apex's YouTube channel are top-notch and you can even call them if you need help...

@ Bentley4700

Mine has the competition kit - you'll be amazed at the difference.

I can just look hard at my trigger & it goes off ....:D

I really like it. But you'll have to get use to it ... it is a very light trigger.

I'd never want that on a defensive firearm. It's great for competition, but that's where it ought to stay. I'm worried the Apex duty sear is going to make my trigger pull too light.

Never conceal cary ... even though it's holster covers the trigger.

The reason we say not for CC is not as a safety against an AD while the gun is holstered. It is because if you ever have to draw your weapon in a self defense situation you don't fire before you are ready due to an adrenaline rush and a light trigger.

Ayoob's article in the current issue of Combat Handguns (May 2012):

He is one of the most educated on the legal ramifications of deadly force. He's seen almost everything. Ayoob raises some legal risks about lightening a trigger that I never would have thought of. For instance; a lawyer claiming that the self defense shooting was actually a negligent discharge (because of an intentionally lightened trigger pull) and that the defendant is guilty of manslaughter.

That's a bunch of b.s., but it doesn't stop them from trying to ruin your life because you altered the gun to fit your needs and were forced to use it.

who is the best source for Mags?

I have not found any great "deals" on M&P mags. From most anywhere I expect to pay about $30-$35.

I have 6 mags of the 12 rounders for the MP9c that I'd like to sell.
(I'll be moving to CA this years and cant take them with me)

$15 ea or I'll make a deal for multiple. I'm in AZ.

I have an M&P 45c that I traded my Glock 23 for. I had only had the G23 for about 6 weeks. I had the Apex DCAEK kit installed on my M&P. I can shoot the 45c more accurately than I can shoot my Sig 226
