what 338 lapua rifle would you buy?

The Savage 110BA is my .338LM of Choice.

The savage mentioned above is surely a great piece and a great option. When I do it, it will be the REM 700, since I have a 5r in 308 and 223. You can find them just barely used with a few rounds down the tube for 1300 ish of you are patient.

You cant mention 338 Lapua without the Sako TRG 42. It's one of the best factory platforms going. Since purchasing mine 6 years ago the prices have come down a bit.

Accuracy International AWSM.... because I can dream.

If u can afford to shoot the lapua much, have a custom rifle built. That being said the AI and TRG are nice optione.

Get a BAD NEWS semi auto. AR style 338 Lapua. Awesome rifle. Spendy.

I'd suggest the Savage 110 BA. Shot mine for the first time last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of recoil and the shockwave the muzzle break put's out. Nice having the firing line all turning to look at you and say "What the Heck was that?"

Although, don't know if it was just a problem with mine but was having some issues with feeding and extraction of Hornady brass. Got a box of Lapua and Prvi Partisan en route to test to see if it's an ammo or a gun problem though.

I've spent some time behind a 98b. Not very impressive.

I was considering a .338 Lapua also but after researching the options I am going with .338 edge instead of the Lapua. You will get similar ballistics with cheaper brass and it can be built on any standard magnum action.

Orkan- I think its hilarious that you're kid (I'm assuming its your kid) is behind you in that pic... while you're prone shooting one mean looking rifle!

My dad has an AR-30 and its pretty nice. Only 338LM I've shot.

Savage make the 111 long range hunter in .338lap and can be had for under $1500. Seems like a good option

She loves to come shooting with me. Gets mad if I leave her in the house. I can shoot for an hour, and she won't make a peep except to cheer when I shoot. It's great for moral!

338 Lapua

I'd opt for a Rem. in 338RUM all kinds of goodies you can get for them and cheaper brass. Goodies like Jewel triggers, 20" angle bases,muzzlebreaks,bi-pods, you name it it's made for a Rem. rifle. Al

The build quality mainly. For the money they ask for it I would expect a much more polished product. I don't like "cheap" feeling firearms, and the 98b didn't impress me in the least. It's long, heavy and offers almost zero advancement from a more proven design like the AIAW.

Accuracy was on par, but actually trying to put some work in on a steel range with one was not what I'd call fun. It's kind of hard to explain, but it seems like everything I did with it was "forced." The ergo's of the bolt, mag, etc just did not fit me in the slightest. It seems very much an attempt to have an offering in that segment to pick up money they may be leaving on the table otherwise.

I've got a quite a bit of time behind TRG's, and AI's and I'd take either over the 98b. Obviously the bullpup system of the DTA is where I put my money. All the benefits and none of the negatives.

I'd vote for the Savage 111 LRH, followed by the 110 BA.

LRH is more conventional-looking, has a huge box mag, nice muzzle brake, accu-stock, and the karsten cheekpiece. I think they go for around $1000.

On my dream budget I would go Sako, on my real budget I would get the Savage and never look back, they really are FANTASTIC rifles for the money. I would not be supprised if the Savage was every bit as accurate as any Sako, but the fit and finnish is bound to be better on the Finnish rifle
