Colt Delta Elite Blued??

Why didn't Colt reintroduce the Delta Elite in a blued version? Why just in stainless? I like the blued look better, weren't the first models only available in a blue finish? Do you think they'll introduce a blued model eventually?

Looks like they were going after the carrying crowd with the stainless and fixed sights. I got one of the new ones and like it very much, but its set up for practical use and not so much for range use. Great for carry in the winter and for a vehicle gun all year round. Not really sure if they've sold enough of the new ones to stimulate demand for additional options. I don't see much interest in them here at this forum.

Wish they would come back out with a blued Gold Cup version again, but I don't really expect them to. Glad to see a new National Match in .45 ACP is available again. I'm saving my pennies.

A blued gun along with a stainless would require two completely different production runs for the major components. as Colt seems to feel there is limited demand for the pistol - by the on again, of again availability - I doubt they see a sufficient market to run both blued and stainless production.

In any case, I'm with you. While I like stainless in general I would gladly trade my stainless Delta Gold Cup for a blued one with old school roll markings.

I would love to have a Delta, but they have those throated (read: Unsupported) chambers instead of a ramped/supported design. I would be leery of running full power 10mm ammo thru them.

And I dont want to spend big $$$ on a new Delta then have to turn around and spend more $$$ on a custom ramped barrel.

If the price was in line with say, Ruger's new SR1911, and the barrel was a ramped design....I would be trading my G20 in.

Blue Colt Delta Elite

I have a blue Colt Delta Elite. Don't know when it was made. The attached pic should answer any questions about accuracy. As to ammo, I find the commercial stuff to be "40S&W Long." I handload to original spec and have fired a couple thousand of my reloads through it without problem. No split cases, no pierced or flattened primers.

I had one just like yours. Bought it for 800 and sold it for 700 to fund an AR. Been kicking myself ever since. I spotted it on the dealers shelf several weeks later with a 900 dollar sticker on it. Should have bought it back anyways. It was almost NIB. I still have 3 boxes of ammo that came with it been looking real hard at a Glock 20.

Backpacker - I love the service grade look of your Delta and am very happy to hear of your long term success with full loads.

I agree with your "40 S&W long" analogy. I figure some of the factory stuff is good for recovered brass and letting borrowers shoot.
