I just visited the Kahr Arms website and see that they don't have the blued steel versions available anymore. I see that they have a blued stainless steel version available in the polymer framed models, but not in steel.
Does anyone have any new information on this? I'd prefer a blued pistol and hope they still have a steel version in blue or at least blued stainless all steel.

Their "blue" was really a matte black. It was a poor finish that didn't resist rust well and I am not going to miss it at all. If you like the look of blued steel guns, go with the blackened SS from Kahr or find a used one. The used blued Kahrs are much cheaper than the SS guns so you should be able to find a deal.

Like firestar said, Kahr's "bluing" process was lousy!! I bet that that they didn't sell more than one or two blued guns for every 10 stainless models!! It's pure business economics. Produce what sells the best!!

The following quote is from an article called "The house of Kahrs" by Massad Ayoob. It's featured on the Kahr website.

Frank Harris, Kahr's vice-president of marketing, says the single most popular model is the standard k9 in stainless. This is the one that has been approved for use by the New York Police Department, which is one reason for its popularity. Nationwide, according to Harris, 60 percent of sales are in 9mm and the rest in .40 S&W.

I note with interest that they have also dropped the "E" series. :scrutiny:

Just bought one.

I just bought a NIB one of these for $375. I plan to use my olive green KG GunKote on the slide so this is of no concern to me. Anyone looking for a real bargain should snap one of these up and customize the slide.

My K9 didn't have a problem with rust on the slide. Mine had a serious problem with rust on the mag release, and the grip. I had it reblued locally, and haven't had any more problems out of it.

If I could find some sucker to trade me a stainless K9 for my blued one, I'd do it:neener:
