7.63X25mm in a Tokarev?.

As long as your not shooting it through a 9mm barrel. Re read your post Only 7.62X25.

A couple of years ago I stumbled across a few boxes of 7.63 mauser ammo. I shot it out of my CZ52. Accuracy was quite good, but it would only cycle properly about 75% of the time. They are physically the same size as 7.62x25, but judging by the lack of recoil and muzzle blast, it is loaded to much lower pressure. If you have a bunch of 7.63 Mauser ammo laying around, you could probably sell it and buy 3-4 times the amount of tok ammo with the money.

i own a cz52 too, i shot the mauser rounds out of it. i agree, they didnt cycle 100% of the time. i dont think they have the same pressure's.

I can't hardly find ammo for my M57 anymore.. I haven't shot it in a looooong time.

I reload both with the same dies and mixed brass. Works fine in the Mauser, Tokarev and CZ52.

During World War II, the German military fighting on the Russian front ordered stockpiles of the obsolete 7.63x25 Mauser round to use in captured Tokarevs. In an actual Tokarev, it will indeed operate correctly. However, Russian .30 caliber bullets are actually .311, not .308 like most European and American .30 calibers (Britain being the exception, also using .311). This reduces accuracy when .308 bullets are used. The proper Tokarev round is actually loaded quite a bit hotter than the old Mauser round, too. You can shoot 7.63x25 Mauser ammo in a Tokarev, but you should never do the reverse.

I sincerely hope you're not using 7.62x25 loading data. Otherwise you're asking to have a broomhandle Mauser blow up in your face. Just because it seemingly works doesn't mean it's the right loading. The Tokarev and CZ are stronger pistols than the Mauser. The Mauser may be able to shoot it for a time, but it's not designed for those pressures. You should NEVER carelessly just mix and match different rounds, no matter how similar they may be.

I always read they were interchangeable, and only recently found people on the internet saying the Tokarev is loaded to higher pressure. According to the CIP, maximum pressure for the Tokarev is 34800 psi and the Mauser is 37700 psi. Can't say that military surplus submachine gun ammo isn't loaded hotter, but any published load data is going to be safe in either.

Remind me never to be around when you're shooting your reloads, then. I really hate shrapnel, and I'd really hate watching a classic C92 go boom.

Yeah, I'm really worried that the Lyman load data is unsafe. Guess they don't know what they are talking about when they say it's interchangeable.
