I'm trying to choose one of these full size 9mms for home defense but I have no experience with any of them, but I'm leaning toward the M&P or Glock, more to the m&p, but I also want one that can handle +P+ with NO PROBLEM!!
Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Remember with +P+, you are going to have increased recoil, so a solid steel gun makes a lot of sense if you don't have issues with the increased weight.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a gun range that rents both the G34 and the M&P9 nearby, they're pretty common guns. Between them, I'd say quality and reliability are essentially the same, it's up to what you shoot better.

I would argue that +P+ ammo isn't really needed these days, +P in 9mm should get you fast enough and if you need faster... Get a .357SIG. But both guns should be able to handle at least a limited amount of +P+ with no issue.

BTW, voted for the 1911 in .45ACP because... I can't not push that button if you give me the option.

Actually my first choice isn't on your list, either the Beretta 92 or even better the Taurus PT92. I have the PT92 with loading block from Beretta 92. I like the Taurus version of the 92 better due to the fact the safety is where I think it belongs but not as good a finish on the Taurus. Also the Taurus has a rail while the old Beretta I had for years didn't have other than that no real difference in the guns as far as shooting goes. Both are tack drivers.

There are only three 9mm's worth owning. They are the Browning Hi-Power, and the Browning Hi-Power or the Browning Hi-Power. The rest on my list are all Copies of the Browning Hi-Power like the FEG PJK 9HP or the FM 90 or the Arcus you get the Idea.

Beretta 92fs. I owned one for years before downgrading to PX4-SC for easier summer time concealment. I've heard great things about the Highpoint, but I've never tried one. I know it's apples to oranges, but I love my Browning shotgun, and could easily see myself owning a Browning pistol. The quality is great.

I own a G34 and it's been totally reliable, but I like the grip safety on the XD pistols.

I don't like flip up frame mounted safeties so no Berettas or 3rd gen Smiths.

My choice is the HK PSP or P7M8... but I don't expect people to rush out and buy them. I picked mine up in 1985 for $500.00

I have become a huge fan of the Walther PPQ.
The best 9 for the money, IMHO.

But, the magazines are insanely expensive - unless you get M.R. Baby Eagle mags......I hear they are the same design, work well and are about $20 cheaper.

YMMV

People, I'm disappointed! No one has yet mentioned the Sig P226 in 9mm!

Hellooooooooo!!!!!

Pick one up, fondle it, take it home. Be happy!

I got nothin' on either the list you provided or the recommendations above. All great pistols. For what it's worth, I'm such a Browning Hi Power fan I stopped carrying mine in favor of a Glock. Wouldn't want to lose the BHP.
