I got nothin' on either the list you provided or the recommendations above. All great pistols. For what it's worth, I'm such a Browning Hi Power fan I stopped carrying mine in favor of a Glock. Wouldn't want to lose the BHP.
Ditto, I started carrying a P-11 just because I don't want my BHP knocking around in a Police Evidence Locker if I am forced to us a Gun for SD/HD. My older brother was a LEO and he really like that logic too. If the P-11 gets locked up as evidence I'm out 250.00 if the BHP gets locked up I'm out damn near a grand to replace it.

The CZ seems cool(trigger job out of the box), but Glocks point great for me. Also the CZ is about twice the price, I'd get 2 glocks over the 1 CZ. Shoot both and see how they point for you.
Here's my Glock 34 with A Viridian X5L laser/light, and the Glock 33 round magazine. A blast to shoot.

My duty pistol is a M&P9 Pro. Same as the M&P9 L. If its good enough to protect me on the streets, then its plenty good for home defense.

However, I would look at adding the Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Kit from Apex Tactical. The Reset Assist is also a welcome addition.

CZ's twice the price?

Please tell me where i can get a new glock for approx $240?I paid 479 for my CZ 75B NITB.

Beretta 92FS. If it's going to live in a nightstand, you may as well get a heavier gun for better shooting. If you really want a light, laser, or pistol bayonet, Beretta even makes a couple of variants with rails.

You really should consider the full-size Walthers as well.

And with a handle like yours, I'd feel I'm being negligent if I didn't tell you to man up and buy yourself a 10mm, something like a S&W 1006 or 1076.

Full size? Glock 17 or any other gun of similar dimensions your shooting style prefers.

The problem with a poll that allows an open response is that now you've got far more options than you're likely to ever try or see firsthand. Considering your intended purpose the first requirement is reliability and the second requirement is reliability. A pistol for home defense is a rather limited role, a five-step affair for me from nightstand to carbine and simply a last second option.

I've put thousands of rounds through each of my M&Ps including a 9L and have yet to experience any failures. No mechanical, ammo related, shooter related, weather related, lubricant related, none. They are reasonably priced, have been subjected to rigorous testing and most any accessory you desire (short of a 91 round magazine) is available.

I think any of them would serve your purpose, I feel a rail for mounting a light is a good thing and I truly believe any +P/+P+ ammo should be avoided from a reliability standpoint, not because it will blow your gun up but because cycling it faster than its intended design can induce a host of issues.

??? What about guns that are designed from the beginning to handle +P (which has a SAAMI spec)? Heck, the standard NATO round is over 34,000 PSI, and is, therefore, +P. I'd go so far as to say that most modern, full-size 9mm pistols are specifically designed to shoot +P ammo. Most of them have an "intended design" that permits shooting both +P and standard-pressure ammo.

What is it you think +P+ will do that any other 9mm won't do?

What will +P+ do? Wear the heck out of a gun and probably blow it up. But I didn't say one word about +P+, if your comment was in response to mine. I referenced +P, which is a SAAMI-spec, and is what many full-size service guns are really designed around.

As for what it will do, the ballistics information is available. Whether you think the extra velocity, or extra weight without loss of velocity, is useful is up to you. I was responding to the claim that pistols encounter reliability problems with +P because it cycles the action faster than intended. I believe that to be false. (It would probably be true re: +P+.)

Sig pro. Mind has over 1k through it without so much as a hiccup. Whitebox, fmj, powrball, you name it. Not one single problem EVER.

Dave, I understand +P is a SAAMI spec. but I have yet to encounter a manufacturer who recommends a steady diet of it. I have faith the metallurgy can handle it but springs are another matter. Remember a Glock (for example) uses a fixed spring weight regardless of model and the slide's weight is modified as needed. The recoil spring must allow time extraction, ejection and the magazine spring to present a new cartridge. Better to stay within published specs. and I have yet to see a chamber marked 9mm +P.

Also agree with mljdeckard. If it don't do it for ya, there's something else that should.
