H&R Model 676: Good first pistol

I had a 676 years ago. I wish I would have kept it. It was very accurate and easy to shoot. A 676 is a revolver though, not a pistol. Pistols are semi-autos.

While racoon hunting I used to shoot racoons out of the tops of the trees with my 676 with no problems, as long as someone spotted them for me with a light. Of the H&Rs out there I always thought the 676 was one of the easiest to shoot.

As far as your question of "what pistol should I get for my first gun?" again, pistol or revolver? You mentioned both in the same context.

We can't offer opinions until we know the answer to that one.

Again, I wish I would have kept my 676.

Ah, revolvers can be called pistols.

But auto pistols can't be called revolvers.

Use of the term 'pistol' to refer to auto-loaders only is a relatively recent convention.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. When I was a kid they all were pistols but now a days, especially on here, it doesn't seam so.
