FTF sales leave little or no record. If you have the cash, why wait any longer?
The line of people at the local, typically small show today reportedly was a quarter mile long.

Deals are made all the time in quiet corners of Wal Mart, Kroger parking lots...or behind McDonalds.
The popularity of this method might be growing by the hour.

This broke A** Country and this Broke A** state can't afford to buy my guns back.
Besides, they didn't sell them to me anyway, so how could they buy them back?

We here in Australia did with the governments talk of offering gun owners "market value" for the guns they handed in and we got screwed over. Royally.
We got mere cents in the dollar of the guns actual worth and they were all destroyed.

There is no way, with the way your economy is, that you'll get anywhere near market value either.

In all seriousness, though, I have a collection which (before the "run" started) was worth in excess of 125K.

I'm not turning them in.

No force on Earth would compel me to do so willingly.

I'm offering a slightly used HK USPc in stainless for a government buy back. They can have it. For $700.
 
I could never imagine it getting to the point where you have to load up all your guns & drive to some police station or headquarters & hand in your guns,in a line with others doing the same thing.If that happens,the next thing you might see are buildings going up with the words "Arbeit Macht Frei" on them.
 
Were the call to disarm to come, I would be worried for our nation.

However, were my family threatened directly, I would disarm voluntarily.

One thing that does concern me was that the firearms I had registered with Fort Bliss are still logged to me, despite my ETS. When I asked, I was told that they would be tracked to me perpetually by the Provost Marshal's office and could not be deleted. Worrisome, but out of my hands.

Seriously? If anyone threatens my family with lethal force, the next thing I'm going to see is a sight picture and muzzle flash.

No one threatens my family, under the color of ANY flag.
 
Let's be real folks. A government buyback program would likely offer no more than $50 per firearm turned in. That is the typical amount offered in cities where buybacks have taken place. Like many others, there is no way that I would turn over any of my firearms - if the "authorities" decide to come look for them they had better have a warrant and be prepared for a legal battle all the way to the supreme court. This entire situation is a trumped up BS plan for the biggest gun grab in history.
 
I'm a fan of the "independent buy-back" (sic) in which honest purchasers (you know, without taxpayer-stolen funds) offer more to the folks waiting in line. Unfortunately, the jackboots won't tolerate that for long.
 
I'm just a lad, but I've purchased a couple rifles in my time. I know that every time I've bought a rifle I fill out a background check form. Is this the only record Uncle Sam has that I purchased a weapon? Is there any way for the feds to say "Oh, it looks like so and so has three weapons purchased under his name" and then show up at my door knocking?

If they do (which I feel that is unlikely given the state of the economy) and I say "No, sold them all" or give them some other response, do they have any right to search my home to see if I'm lying or not?

when Hutchinson from TX and Warner from VA support a Feinstein proposal... you are in trouble...

Even if a federal law passed for confiscation, it would be up to the local governments to do the actual confiscation. I can tell you right now, here in South Carolina the locals would not do it.

Secondly, if confiscation passed in the federal government, then you run into a state's rights issue. Many states in the South and West have it specifically written in their state constitutions that firearms are a PERSONAL right, not a militia right.

Confiscation could literally split the country, and I don't think the yahoos in Washington are going to risk that.

Reminds me of stories that I've read about tax collectors in China disappearing when they've gone into rural areas to try to collect from peasants who are use to doing their own thing.
