Blue Dot

I bought Blue Dot to use with 9mm but have not been terribly excited with the results. I knew to begin with it was on the edge of being too slow for this but wanted to try it anyways. Reduced 223 loads peaked my interest as well.

But, i've been wondering... Has anyone tried this powder in 327 Fed Mag? Between the most obvious warning (no data) and with the 357 Mag and 41 Mag warnings on the site it has me a little nervous to go there. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Not looking for data really, just pure curiosity.

I loaded thousands of great Blue Dot 125 gr. .357 rounds before Alliant came out with that mysterious warning.

I used Blue Dot in 357 Magnum under 160 grain cast SWCs, but I have not loaded these since the middle to late 1980s. I have not loaded any appreciable amount of 357 Magnum in a long time either.

I most frequently use Blue Dot in 38 Super and 38/45 Clerke.

I use Blue Dot in my 10mm Glock. Works great and is my go to powder in that cartridge. Highly recommended when a slow burning powder is required for the larger calibers. An interesting side note about blue dot is that you will get a blue flash when firing ammo loaded with it.

I use Blue Dot with 147gr bullets in 9mm. Started using it with cast 147's because faster powders would key hole while BD loads shot great.

I honestly don't see why it wouldn't work..
They list data for Power Pistol (which is faster) and 2400 (which is slower)...

I use blue dot with heavier bullets. It did well when using 310 gr cast bullets from a 3" barreled 44 special.

I use Blue Dot with .45 Colt and have been happy with the results.

Not enough Blue Dot will fit in 9mm, 40sw, 10mm, for me.
Too much Blue Dot will fit in .223, but the accuracy and clean bore at 35kpsi are great.
Blue Dot can hang or partially hand up in an RCBS uniflow powder measure.
So loading Blue Dot into .223 requires checking the fill on each case.

Maybe I should try the 147's and blue dot in 9mm. So far I've only tried 124 XTPs.

I guess there's not a lot of people loading the 327 FM.

Blue dot works very well in longer barrels. I'm pushing 115gr bullets upward of 1600 to 1700 fps in my carbine, without excessive pressures. Good stuff.
