I'm fed up with not finding 9mm ammo to shoot. I've got some "good stuff" that I'm keeping, but need some ammo just to shoot.

I see both Independence and American Eagle on gunbroker? How are these? How about Blazer brass? I'm not interested in steel cased ammo.
 
I have a good deal of Blazer Brass 9mm and Federal American Eagle and it's good stuff in both 9mm and my 380.
In fact I just got a very reasonably priced load of Blazer Brass in 9mm come by the brown truck just last Thursday.
I *think* Independence is somehow or another connected with Federal so if that's true I would include it too in good to go ammo to use.
God I am glad I stocked way up on ammo before this tsunami hit!!!
 
I'm stocked up enough. But not for shooting. Usually I'd just shoot 2 boxes, buy 2 or 3. Can't shoot and watch my stock shrink though.

Going to end up buying 500 or 1000 on gunbroker. Pay a couple bucks more per box than I shoot but at least have ammo to shoot. Might start collecting my brass even to sell or give to friends who reload.

What may be best is to use this as an excuse to get a 22 pistol and shoot up some of the cheap 22LR I have.

Right after I responded to your thread I scoped over GB's auction sellers and was none to impressed with the current pricing in which a lot of people are bidding on without regard to the inflated prices,thus running the inflated prices even higher.
A close friend of mine bought an AR-15 last week for....2k.....
He can't find no ammo and turned to me.
I suggested GB and since he does not do the computer thing I told him I would check things out.
There is PLENTY of ammo available in most calibers.
Although the big stores have sold out there is always the prepper individual or small gun dealer that has PLENTY and this is the case here but you must pay more when he is selling his wares on GB or the like auction site.
But dont despair there are still deals there on GB.
I actually bought a case (1000 rounds) of PMC 380 just yesterday for $290...
Oddly enough in the bidding fury there were numerous bidders going after .380 ammo being sold by a large seller that offers free shipping but most of these people were so fixated on their need to win the bidding war my case slipped right by them in plain sight and everyone of these bids far exceeded what I paid including shipping!!....Be patient.
Now that our esteemed Emperor stood naked today in front of us perhaps now some of this pricing may subside a bit.
That logic held back my friend today from paying way too much from my point of view but he has money and is still willing to pay to secure his ammo for his over priced AR...........

Good god, I justdid a quick search on gb. 1000 rounds of 9mm American eagle is going for $359-$600! What the heck is wrong with people? Who pays that much?
 
Believe it or not there are people out there with real U.S. money more than willing to spend on something they want bad enough.
Can you imagine what several cans of Pinto Beans would go for if suddenly our nice and orderly food supply went to hell in a hand basket????
There would be plenty of people barking loud and long they wanted it!!
And they would back it up with the known going currency of the moment.
Think people think!!!
 
Breakingcontact the shipping price on a 1000 round case is usually between $24-$35,depending a lot on the sellers location.
The case of 380 ammo I just bought is coming from very rural Frostbite Wisconsin and the guy is probably having to go a distance to get it to a UPS shipper.

Talk about OUTRAGEOUS pricing I tagged an auction on 223 yesterday on GB and the auction number was 32538823.......1,000 rounds sold for...$2006!!
This is exactly what I was referring to in post #9.
 
I've been hand loading and casting since 1969. I know the initial outlay now days is high, but I swear, those of you that don't roll your own need to reconsider that position. For the price of a single quality handgun, you can have a good setup. Maybe not the Cadillac of loading, but at least the Ford F150 ... which is what I drive.

The problem in the loading arena is components are once again in short supply. In many cases, NO supply.

Your cases are essentially free assuming you've kept what you shoot. Primers work out to be about .03 each; the same for powder. Even if you buy cast bullets they are often .08 -.10 cents each. Currently I can load 9mm, 40 and 45 ACP all day for about .07 each using my bullets. If I load commercial cast that goes to about .12 each.

I know it's not for everybody, but when all the others shooters are done, wife and I are just getting started good. Just a thought.

Component supply is currently a problem and my living arrangement doesn't give me the space to set up a press.

Found a case reasonably priced on gunbroker. So if you need me...ill be at the local IDPA shoot.

If it is like here DO NOT try to go to local gun show. Worse then Middle-eastern bazaar on busiest day. Why people keep doing this to themselves is beyond me.

I once helped an apartment-dwelling friend set his press up on a Black & Decker Workmate. Attached the press to the top with C-clamps; later through bolts with large thumb screws. The compound linkage of the press contained all the stresses so the Workmate held up quite well.

When he was done, the press went on the top shelf of his coat closet and the Workmate folded and went behind the coats leaned up against the wall. Basically zero footprint when he wasn't loading and took up less space than his TV when he was.

Components are no more of a problem than loaded ammunition. But that's no reason not to load. If it were, then lack of ammunition is a reason to leave the shooting hobby. In time all the various things we want will come back. As for me, I planned for the future and it's worked out well ... very, very well. At current consumption rates, wife and I have at least a seven year supply. I'll be extending that as components once again fill the supply chain.

And as I hear so often, it's never too late to start.

I just received 2k of PMC 115gr FMJ from TargetSports.com. Took then three weeks to get it here, instead of the usual five days. $12.50 a box, free shipping on case lots.
