Who can support this request? Consider: a second major platform would help secure the future of this excellent cartridge, provide a sport carbine in blk for those of us who prefer the mini-14/ m1a aesthetics and ergonomics, and allow for a semi that could, in ranch rifle form, stand up under some states' "assault weapons" bans.

It should also require very minimal R&D and retooling on Ruger's part. This should be doable. Now how do we persuade them to do it? (I've already submitted a request).

If we broadened the appeal of the caliber by offering more platforms, and more people used it, more manufacturers would make it and in larger runs, and the price would go down as availability went up.....

Kel Tec is coming out with a .300 blk carbine. Which should fill the same niche as the Mini. The pictures look pretty good. Of course, given the current political climate, who knows if this product will ever actually hit the market.

If a frog had wings he wouldnt bump his butt. Sorry texan but I think Ruger will make my Ruger 96 lever action in 454 Casull before your Mini 30 11

The retooling effort would be trivial - probably just using the Mini-30 barrel with a different chamber. But there still has to be demand for it. Once you get away from the AR15 platform, the 300BLK doesn't have the same level of advantages compared to using some other existing cartridge, like 7.62x39mm.

Oh, sure, of course. So far though they've been so reluctant to offer many options. Now they could do 5.45x39mm, .223/5.56, 6mmx45, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, .300 Whisper/Blackout, 7.62x39, .458 Socom, .50 Beowulf, and probably many others, too. But they don't seem to be all that interested. Probably just don't see the payoff based on how many units they'd be likely to sell.

If they learn from some of their 6.8 mini failures it could be okay. The 6.8 could make a return too. One of issues was the name, Mini-14 (6.8) and there was little to distinguish the different option when everyone knows a mini-14 is .223 and a mini-30 is x39. Bring out a Mini-300 and Mini-68 and it sounds like fun.
