6x45mm vs 300 BLK?

I would step up from 6x45 to .243 WSSM.

6x45 would get the nod. 300 blk is popular as a suppressed load because it's a heavy bullet going very slow... not suitable as a target load at all.

I seriously considered an AR in 6x45 but just couldn't find anyone that made the barrels... if you can get ahold of one then I wouldn't hesitate.

Not necessarily. It can be loaded with lighter bullets traveling at respectable velocities and shot for accuracy.

even so, 300blk drops like a rock, 100 grain 6x45 would shoot a lot flatter than a 125gr 308 and the smaller profile will keep velocity a lot longer and react to outside influences less.

I really like the 300 BLk. I think it really makes the PDW concept a viable weapons system. However I would not use it as a moderate range precision round. It's just not made for that. I'm not up to par on the ballistics of the 6x45 but have you just considered going with a heavy 223? Once you get up to 75+ grains with a good long range bullet the 223 is pretty respectable as a target round to at least 800 yards.

this 6x47(222rem mag case) shoots bug holes at 100yds and 1/2-3/4 " groups at 200yds and better than 2 inch groups at 300yds. i like it better than the 6x45 because of the longer neck,but thats just me. eastbank.

6x45 for your described purposes. I like the .300blk and think it does very well in the areas it was designed for but a target round it is not. The 6 to 6.5mm rounds just shine at the bench and when chasing bean field deer.
