I finished my build. I DID A few conversions the internet said are a must. The biggest was a .30 cal conversion. Everyone is doing it so I had to jump on the band wagon. Then I changed to a gas piston set up since the DI system is unreliable. I also traded in the junk GI mags for steel reinforced polymer one with a constant radius curve for better feeding. I also added a magpul afg and saw grip. The rest is stock AR15. Thanks for reading and leave your thoughts.

I like the looks, but what part of that rifle is an AR build ???? (LOL)

I guess after all the reliability upgrades the stock and flash hider are all that remains. I only changed the gas system, caliber, and mags because people in the internet said it will make it more reliable.

How do you like the tech sights on your AK? I know they are great as far as usability, I am referring more to holding zero and ease of maintenance with the new top cover. Oh yea, nice upgrades to your AR.

No complaints, They run just like AR sights with the .065 peep.

best looking ak ive ever seen! took a whole bunch of AR15 parts to make it look good..... but seriously, nice rig. hows it shoot?

Shoots great but I have only shoot her at the indoor range standing :(. Now that spring is here I want to go to the outdoor range and shoot from a bench to see what she can do.

Very, very nice. You've just removed some of the ergonomic problems I have with the AK. Now, if you can move the mag release, and change the safety, you'd be there. :D

I have two AK clones. Both have jammed on me. I guess I can blame the cheap Wolf, or Tula steel cased ammo, but my Colt LE6920 has never hiccupped with any ammo.

That was actually funny....

It looks like what could happen if you put an AK and AR in the gun safe with no parental supervision.....

I went a different route. Took an AK and rebuilt it into a nice gun. It does still have one part in common with the one pictured, and retains the .30 cal bore size :neener:

It looks like, in the process of upgrading this AR, you ruined the ergonomics and removed the last-round bolt hold-open and bolt release, as well as hosing the mag release.

Reminds me of the guy selling one of Steve McQueens motorcycles.

Yup'er, it's one of Steve's old bikes, the engine block's been replaced, the head is an alloy upgrade I found, the old frame was switched out for this stiffer one, these alloy wheels are better than his stock ones were, that seat was re-done by my wife and the tank is a larger one off one of my old Huskys - other than that, it really is one of Steve McQueen's old desert sleds!":banghead:

Anyhoo, I like your rifle and you gotta be loving the 100% increased sight radius.

Sacrifices had to be made for crucial upgrades. The internet says that only piston ARs are reliable and that real men shoot only .30cal rifles. I had to dump the mag release and LRBHO for the constant radius mag. You know that the curve/straight design of the GI mags crate huge reliability issues and jam every other round. Since everything you read on the internet is true I thought the gains outweighed the lost ergos.

Indeed! Do not argue with the internet.

This despite the fact my 5.56mm direct-impingement Spikes AR has been exactly as reliable as my Izhmash 7.62x39 Saiga AK (100% for both). And I think I'm a real man, anyway.

But I know better than to argue with the internet!
