Got to love that model 19

S&W K frames and the 38/357 cartridges are my favorite for shooting. I agree with you, the M19 is a great revolver...

Your target reminded me of what I once did with a friends Model 19. It was a 2 1/2" barrel model and he wanted me to check out the action job that he had done on it. I put all six in the black at around 30' just as fast as I could pull the trigger and this was with some pretty hot handloaded rounds that my friend had put together. I have had any number of S&W revolvers that had good DA/SA triggers and were capable of decent accuracy but nothing that really could compare to that one sweet shooting Model 19.

Photos of the 19, please! I used to own two 6" 19's at different times in my life, but they were identical to each other. Both blued, with the orange ramp front sight and white outlined rear blade. I knew then that I loved them, but didn't know how much I really loved them until after I had to sell each one. Never did shoot paper targets back in those days, but sure killed a LOT of cans full of water!

I would dearly love to have another one just like those two, gotta be 6" and blue, with those sights. I'd be very happy with a 586 in the same config though.

God, I miss those pistols. I loved those like I love my Colt 01911 and my M1 Garand. Some guns are just RIGHT!

K-frame .38/.357's are (to me, at least) the pinnacle of wheel guns.

Ah, they are nice shooters indeed. I have a couple of 66's, a -2 and a -5, and they are just so tight, and precision made. And I don't baby them with any standard loads either, they get fed only H110 / 296 loads.

The internet has cast an undeserved shadow on Bill Jordans pride and joy in some quarters. Like as not most that perpetuate the myths never lived with one for any length of time.

The model 19 is a great revolver and continues to be a favorite by those shooting 357.

The pinnacle?...naw, you gotta have a $2,000.00 Python, or did you hear about my Ruger that fell into a volcano and was then dragged 150 miles behind my pickup under 100 feet of salt water? I then triple loaded some magnum cases and shot a hawk out of the sky at 1/2 mile. Then my Euro cousin showed me his Korth.....well you get the picture.

I use the term "pinnacle" in a relative manner.

Colts are/were magnificent. But no longer have much factory support and parts may be drying up. They are "better."

I have no first hand experience with Korth or Dan Wesson. I'll take everyone's word for it though.

Ruger are, design wise, the "next logical step" in revolver design. If you want to run heavy magnum loads? There's none better. Plus a layman can claen their action up, pretty easy.

The OLD K-frames though are well made, balance well, shoot great, and usually display a decent level of fit and finish. All (usually) at a price that is quite reasonable. Add to that their ubiquitous nature, and generous parts, accessories and factory support? It's a great balance.

here is myS&W 19-5 the only guns I have that shoot better is my S&W1911 and my 22lr HighStandard mod102

It's hard to beat the K-Framed Smiths.
Mine is a K-38 Full Target that I've had since the Mid-Sixties.

My Model 13 is my favorite gun to shoot and if I was more sentimental it would replace my Glock as my carry gun.

I've carried one or the other of "K" frames many a mile, from my 25/20WCF for small game to my 357 or 44spl. for self defence, small game or just to go out to do some fun shooting with friends... The "K" frames are still my fav revolvers...

Man, I remember those days! Back in my hometown Evans Drugs used to be the best gun store in town.

Carried one for the first 15 years of my police career, till we transitioned to Glocks back in the 80s.
Never felt under-armed. A versatile weapon as well, at home with light .38s or full-house .357s.

Best shot I ever made in my life was with one of my 19's. Put a solid FMJ .357 bullet right through the neck of a big, fat water moccasin laying on a river bank about 20 yards away. DRT. Hit it right behind the head. Buddy that was with me couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it, and that was probably 28 years ago.
