Best FACTORY 158 grain load for S&W Model 19

The FPS looks like it's way too hot of a load.

That's actually the ammo I had in mind, the American Eagle as far as JSP goes, not FMJ.
If you look at Prvi’s website, they (like Hodgdon and Alliant), test their .357 Magnum loads out of a 10” unvented test barrel. The velocities they show are not realistic for conventional revolvers with barrel lengths of 6” or less. If I had a Model 19, (given their penchant for cracking their forcing cones with hot magnum loads), I would shoot standard .38 Specials (148 gr full wadcutters or 158 gr lead round nose or SWC) for 90% of my shooting. Only occasionally, would I scrub the chambers well and load it with .357 Magnum 158 gr JHP or JSP loads. And with that 2.5” barrel, you will be lucky to push even factory magnum loads much over 1100 FPS. Smith K frame .357’s are beautiful, but a bit on the delicate side. If you want it to last, either consider taking up handloading and put together some mild .357’s, or just shoot .38’s.

I realize you stated "factory ammo", but I will recommend saving your brass.

357 can be very versatile if you handload.

most factory 357 ammo, is over priced, under velocity, and hard to find in stock

I understand the benefits of reloading, I just don't have the time or money to invest in it and it's a hassle.

You might look at the offerings from various commercial reloader companies such as Georgia Arms. One or more may offer a light 357 Magnum load.

Georgia Arms is an example, it appears they only offer full power 357 Magnum loads and the component shortages and high volume purchasing is making ammunition difficult to obtain.

But, with the appropriate internet searches, something may be found.

I hand load much of my ammunition so I do not keep up with what is available on the factory ammunition or commercial reloaded market.

I have not read every reply but the CCI Blazer 158 grain .357 is only loaded to 1150 fps from a 4 inch barrel. Sounds like it might be what you want.

edited to add: I see Nullcone beat me to it.
