Bought mine several months back. Its been flawless in performance with the factory Remington, Colt, Wilson, and after market mags.

I've also had great accuracy ~ at 15-20 yards, it chews one big hole.

The Remington comes standard with Novak three dot sites, SS match barrel, SS bushing, lowered ejection port and beveled magazine well.

Got mine up off of Gunbroker for $539.

I have owned several Colt 1911s in the past and they were all great guns. My Remington is on par if not better out of the box than my Colts were.

Can't wait till they offer a Commander or Officer size model.

I've had mine almost a year, 1K or so rounds down range and abosolutely no problems. I do want to replace the rear site with a more user friendly one.

I asked their contact us dept on their website that very same question, as I am ready to buy another one and got a "we can't answer that" response. :banghead:

Used to have a stainless one and it was an excellent pistol. The only thing i didn't like about it was it had some trigger issues which I fixed by fitting a new one. Was very accurate and reliable. Sold it when I needed money and really regret it.

I love mine! As everyone else is saying it is very accurate and reliable.

I recently purchased my first 1911; a Remington R1S, and am very happy so far. The first 50 rounds I had 1 failed to eject, with no jams and the second 50 zero & zero. As a comparison, I put it right up there with my Browning Hi-Power. After putting 100 rounds through it, I knew I had really good big boy gun.

I'm definitely planning on buying another one one of these days..

I use metalform 7 round flush mags with mine (just a personal choice) and have no malfunctions after 300 rounds.

I have had mine a little over a year, shot it quite a bit, played a few different pistol games with it....so think a min of 100 rounds per month.

The games I play are pretty casual at the local club level, and it is not uncommon for me not to even bother cleaning the gun from one match to the next (yea I know).

I have never had ANY problem with the gun running. I have also used several different magazines, from the two it came with, colt....you name it I have tried it....even some gun show magazines I got for $5 each. All work perfect...even those cheap Chinese no name mags....and those are the ones I play the games with....I don't feel good about those $35 magazines hitting the concrete floor.

I am VERY happy with the gun and it is box stock...I have not changed a thing.

Beautiful gun but the trigger could be smoother.

Love mine, great build quality, no complaints, but I haven't done a ton of shooting with it so far, so I can't comment on reliability.

Just put another hundred rounds through the R1 today. Probably up to about 300 rounds total through the gun. It ate it all without protest, including some cheapo steel-cased ammo. The gun remains more accurate than I am, but I'm working on the latter half of the equation

No complaints at all. Great 1911 at a great price.

I had one - it shot and looked great, but here is something you may not know: the frame is cast, not forged (the slide is forged).

Now that may not bother you, and it is true that many other 1911s in this price range are also cast (ie. Ruger), but for about the same money the Springfield has a forged frame.

Problem with the Springfield is that it's imported from South America, but still.

The R1 is made in America - so thumbs up there.

Most guns in this price range will have metal injection molded MIM parts. If you can swing about 1K the Colt is about the best value/quality ratio. That one has a forged frame and only 3 or so MIM parts.

But like I said before, my R1 was a great shooter. And I liked the stainless barrel.

I bought one in 2012, really like it. I don't recall ever having a malfunction, accuracy is average or slightly above other full size pistols. Mostly, I wanted a quality, American made GI style 1911 with a few subtle performance enhancements (sights, ejection port). The R1 delivers.
