What is the best ammo for the Remington R1 1911? I know that most 1911's prefer ball ammo; however have you R1 owners found a hollow point round that shoots well in the R1? I will probably only use ball ammo for all shooting plinking; and even as "back up" when hog hunting.

However, I want to have reliable performance from tactical or hollow point rounds without FTF or jams. Please share your ammo experiences shooting the R1.

***This applies to my Remington r1 only and yours may differ so please do your own experimentation.***

So far I have tried (in hollowpoint) Hydra shocks 230gr, Winchester ranger t (IIRC), remington UMC bulk pack 230gr, and WWB 230gr and of the bunch, surprisingly enough, UMC and WWB are far and away better feeding than the 2 premium rounds I have tried. Since WWB is cleaner I prefer it but I am completely comfortable with either until I try and find a more up to date hp that functions as well. YMMV.

Guns, like people, can be pretty picky with regards to what they like to eat. In the case of your gun, you're gonna have to try a few brands/loads to determine what she dislikes and/or shoots best.
