I know they are apples and oranges and I am not asking anyone "compare" them.

I am trying to find someone who owns both and tell me their opinions of each one. A CZ P01 or CZ compact would be similar if you own one of them.

I have a PCR and a P01 and am thinking of adding a Shield to the mix. If not, I might pick up another PCR.

I also have, and carry the CZ PCR, and am considering a Shield, as a more deep carry, and summer carry alternative. I'd consider a RAMI also, but they are a bit wider being double stack. I have handled a number of Shields in gun stores, and think they are one of the better sub-compact 9MM's for the money, but I have not shot one yet.

Sounds like we are pretty much in the same boat. Although, I had a Rami in the past and I prefer the PCR to the Rami. The Rami is "chunky" for what it is.

What specifically do you want to know??

There is no comparison as you say apples to oranges. They are both excellent guns. They both need a holster and are not "pocket" guns. I do not carry inside waistband. The Shield outside will conceal even with just a t shirt and shorts.

The CZ is IMHO one of the best guns ever. The Shield is a very good gun but not the quality of the CZ. If I lived up North I would carry the CZ with heavier clothing.

Since you have a CZ the Shield would be a good option. Mune has been trouble free and shoots well. You need to check that you have the new improved trigger and that it passes the test.

broken link...please elaborate on the test?

I can only WISH CZ made a thin carry gun. The Shield [or XDs, like I got] is IMO the one of the best options you can go with at this point. Striker fire system, of course. If CZ made a thin DA/SA pistol, I would trade my XDs for it in a heartbeat.

It truly IS an Apples to Oranges comparison.

Looking for info just like this to help me make my decision. Just wanting some observations from "average Joe's" that own or been around both pistols.

I do not know why the link did not work??

Go here and on the left side click the first one MP Shield safety ALERT it is NOT a recall. There is also a imbedded video for those hard of reading:D

Bottom line, there is no comparison between the two guns. Size wise action wise (hammer. decoker VS striker fire. Alloy VS polymer they serve different purposes. The both work, the Shield conceals better but less shots. The SA XDs would be work of a comparison to the Shield.

I am biased I love CZ's and SW revolvers not so much the new SW semi autos. The best semi auto they had IMO was the 3913 perfect size and works great.

For me, I want something a bit more easily concealed, and maybe the ability to pocket carry. A word to the wise. I have been considering one of the newer sub compacts, like the Walther PPS, XDs, Sig P938 and Shield, and have yet to pull the trigger because the PCR is that good and so far, I've been able to dress around it.

Agree and Agree.

That is my thinking on the Shield. Maybe something a little easier to conceal because I will not always be able to dress around the PCR. I looked at a 938 the other day and liked what I saw until the price came up. I could buy 2 Shields for what they wanted for the 938.

Compared the PCR and Shield sie by side this evening. Height was about equal. Shield length was about 5/8" shorter, not counting the tail end of the PCR. Width was about +/- 1/4", CZ was wearing VZ grips. Shield was smooth on the sides, which would make it a little easier to conceal IWB if that is how you carry.

So, I am still up in the air about what to get.......a Shield or the PCR my buddy has.....

The PCR can double as a range gun, and home defense pistol. It is as accurate as my full size 75B, and only holds two less rounds. The Shield is not in that class for accuracy, or capacity, but wasn't intended to be. It is a pure carry gun.

I preferred the P938 also, as I am comfortable with SAO, but like you I choked a bit on the price, and I have no problem spending $$$ for pistols, but I like to get value also. I think the Shield is the bigger bang for the buck, than the P938. The PCR is a jewel at its going price.

I just recently retired my RAMI from daily carry in favor of a Shield. My PCR, even though one of my favorite firearms, was never in the running for daily carry. When I could get away with carry anything larger than the RAMI I carried my full size CZ-75B.

Friend the Rami once. Did not like it. To me, it should be smaller than what it is.

Still thinking Shield or PCR.

Both are great guns

But, if you plan on IWB CC, the "little" 1/4 inch thickness difference makes a tremendous difference in comfort.

There is also a weight difference

After trying multiple CCW weapons, my EDC is a Shield 40.

Its a great little pistol

I have a P01 and Shield. Totally different - my opinion. Shield not close as applies to accuracy. Shield very solid little gun. However, if the RAMI were single stack, the shield would be history. Also - very hard to find a RAMI to test fire. I prefer hammer fired steel pieces. No gripes with the Shield. All about preferences. For the money and function I think the Shield is the best choice on the market, but...I need to get a RAMI to try out. My P01 kicks ass. Period. Accurate and built like a tank. One does not need range acccuracy on a carry piece. Shield is no slouch but you would not expect a 3.1" barrel to be as accurate as a 3.8". My ideal would be to own a stainless CZ75B, and a Rami to add to my P01, but I think with respect to comfort for carry the Shield may win over the RAMI.

Actually looking at revolvers a bit right now. Just ordered an LCR22 for the wife - she hates recoil - but in 38SPL... we'll see...

Yes. had a Rami once. Would not own again. There is not a lot of difference to me between the Rami and P01.

I love my CZ's, but the more I shoot my Shield, the more I like it.

Almost well enough to get another one.......:what:
