I know the P01 was designed as the NATO qualifier, but the 75D Compact seems like the same gun with a few exterior cosmetic differences.

Reason I ask is the CZ bug has bitten hard on 'ol ARTiger . . . Bought a SP01 a few months ago and a 75BD Police last week. The more I shoot them, the more I like them. However, both are a bit beefy for CCW and seems as well as I am shooting these, either the PCR or P01 needs to find it's way to me soon for CCW. Just don't know which one as they seem almost identical.

CZxperts, please give a newbie a tip or two on this matter.

Thanks,
ART

I've had a PCR since 2000 and its been great. Its my preferred carry gun over my Sig P228 and HK P7M8, so that should tell you something. The only significant differerence between the PCR and P01 is the light rail, which is unecessary IMHO. I believe the frame of the PCR is cast and the P01 is forged, but they are both very strong, durable, well tested pistols.

I carry the CZ 75 P-01 each and every time I leave the house. Can't think on anything I've shot in the past that would carry better than the P-01.

For carry I prefer the PCR form factor over anything else I've ever carried. Small and light enough to carry and conceal easily, yet just large enough for great ergonomics. IMO the narrower muzzle is preferable to the P-01's accessory rail.

I have the P01. Either way you can't go wrong. I love rubbing it in the faces of the polymer guys because I have an all-metal gun that's as light as a lot of the polymers.

I do NOT leave my house without my P01.

I have had the PCR for about 7 years and love it! For concealed carry, I don't see the need for the light rail on the P01. Do you really intend to carry with an attached light. Seems to defeat the idea of conceal carry.
The PCR has been 100% reliable with every type of ammo and that's with over 10,000 round thru it.

Another vote for PCR for CCW.

I am looking for a P-01 with a light for the nightstand.

I'm of the opinion that the P01 is quite possibly the perfect expression of the compact 9mm - sorry Glock. Here's why:
- Compact yet stoutly built. Alloy and steel construction makes it recoil friendly.
- Low bore axis reduces recoil.
- Has a rail.
- Can put a (reliable!) .22LR upper on it.
- Relatively cheap magazines.
- Dead nuts reliable. Feeds anything.
- Good customer service.
- Accurate.
- Ergonomic and pointable.
- Smooth trigger.

Both pistols are on the same platform. The only difference is that the P01 has a de-cocker. I have the P01 and I prefer the de-cocker! But yes the CZ bug is mujch like the GLOCK bug, once it bites you have to buy more. A friend once told me "don't buy a CZ" I said "why not I've heard nothing but good things about them" he said " once people start shooting CZ's thats all they want to shoot" I'd say it's pretty true!

You might also want to consider the Rami I believe it is smaller than the 75 Compact and the P01, again I don't think it has the de-cocker though.

I think it's going to be the 75D Compact PCR for me. Thanks for the input folks!

Obviously I don't need a rail on a CCW gun and have an SP01 for home defense which does have a light on it. The 75D Compact "PCR" does have the decocker, hence the "D" part so it'll function like my 75BD Police (new range gun). The Rami, while a nice sub compact just does not fit well in my hands which are on the "catcher's mitt" scale.

Just sold my M&P 9mm and also a Kahr (unreliable). So as of this afternoon when I get the PCR my 9mm battery will look like this . . .

CZ75B SP01 with Surefire Light> Nightstand/Home Defense (passing on the bayonet for now
CZ75BD POLICE> Range Gun
CZ 75D Compact "PCR"> CCW Gun

The nightstand and CCW guns to be loaded with Winchester Ranger 127 grain +p+ SXT. Equivalent hitting power to the 125 grain .357 load cops swore by for years.

I think I'm really going to like this setup. Will allow a lot of practice with a range gun that has the same feel and controls as my CCW. Now I'll just need to find a Kadet kit. . .

The d for de-cocker would make sense. I didn't realize they put a de-cocker on the compact. I want to pick up a 97B someday.

By the way, will the kadet kit fit the P01? If so I'd like to find one!

Oceansands, the CZ 75 Compact has the manual safety but is steel framed. The P-01 and PCR have the decocker and are alloy framed. And yes, the Kadet Kit fits on the PCR and P-01. I've used it on my PCR many times.

I had a RAMI. It was very nice, but I wanted a full size grip. Thus, I will be ordering a PCR in the next few weeks.
The RAMI is too heavy/big for pocket carry. The PCR will conceal about as well IWB. There may be a little more printing with the grip...but that doesn't bother me.

Yeah, I'm reviving a 6 month old thread. Taken me nearly that long to locate 1 of the two (P01, 75c) pistols to handle.....the P01. Very impressed and slightly disappointed at the same time....haven't located a 75c yet; which is what I now feel I want. Grip frame on the P01 seemed full-size, comfortable like the regular 75....and the .3" shorter Compact may better fulfill my desire. No; I don't want the block of a Rami, and I'm unfamiliar with a decocker. Ergo, when I locate a 75C here in Las Vegas (if ever) I'll probably buy it. Anyone with a convincing argument otherwise please enlighten me.........TIA.:scrutiny:

Ya Know.......

.......I've often wondered about this myself. Only throw in the original Compact in as well. I don't care about decockers or the extra weight of steel frames. Since my " cooler weather carry " is the CZ83 with a steel frame, I would imagine that the Compact with the " lock and cock " feature wouldn't be much heavier. I love steel framed pistols and the extra weight doesn't bother me. What I don't like is extra bulk due to IWB carry. Steel frames tend to be slimmer. One of the things I like about my 83 is that the slide itself is not much bigger than my Sig 232. I use the 232 for summer carry due to the slimmer grip. That pistol is all stainless due to possibilities of sweat. And the slimmer grip disappears under a T-shirt in a High Noon Tuckable. So any views on the steel Compact and IWB would be great also.
