Compact 45 for CCW that isn't a G36 or 1911?

Springfield XDS, but Sig P220 Compact would be my choice..

Look at the Ruger SR45. Not a Compact, but a smaller gun, that is very slim.

Check out the Bersa Thunder .45.

You might look at the Bersa Thunder UC Pro .45. While for years many have berated Bersa nd put them on the level with Cobra, Raven, Jennings, and the like, Bersa actually makes a fine pistol. I would actually prefer a Bersa over a Glock or S&W as a compact CCW. Just my opinion mind you and I'll probably get flamed for it, but to each their own.

Xds .45 no contest.

I have both the XDs and the P220 Compact. The XDs is the spring/summer and the P220 Compact for the fall/winter - only due to the type of clothes I wear. Both shoot great, little recoil, eats anything I put thru them. Differences: P220 is noticeably heavier and longer slide.

if you are truly looking for a sub-compact, the XDs is the one to get. Mine is post-recoil and IMHO, despite the internet fodder about the "new" trigger, I don't notice any difference pre versus post.

I don't know anything about the SIG P245 but I have the XDS.

The XDS has turned out to be a better gun than I expected.

XDS is my carry gun. I love it. As others have said shoots very well and is easily concealed iwb. I have mine in a Crossbread mini tuck. I almost forget its on sometimes.

.45 for concealed carry not a 1911 or a Glock? XD-S in .45 would be my choice...will be my choice after the first of the year and I have some money saved up.

H & K USP 45 compact. I just bought one, having had a full size USP many years ago. I liked that gun very much, but as is usually the case, I sold it to a friend. I decided to get the compact USP this time. For a "compact" it is quite large - as big as some company's full size models, but it fits me just right. Now I've got to find the time to go out and shoot it. wyatte

The Glock 30 SF is probably about the same size as a Sig 220 and the 30S is smaller. I've personally gone the 4" 1911 route, but I'm going to add a 30S at some point in a few years. Dang Glocks always work and are real easy to take care of.

The XD-S is no doubt the smallest 45 ACP package on the market. I'm still not sure they aren't pushing the physics of the cartridge and slide length (the same argument can be made about 3" 1911's), and while I'd consider one, I'd wait a bit to get a better handle on reliability. The recent recall didn't help instill confidence in that platform. Having said that, time may very well prove me wrong.

My EDC gun is a XDs .45, and I love it. It is a great gun.

Another vote for the XDs. If that is too small, Glock 30 of some variation (SF, S, Gen 4).

A friend of mine has a Taurus PT-145 that has been very reliable and easy to conceal.

I have to add another vote for the XDs. Love mine, even post-recall.

I carry the p250SC. Love it, never had a burp.

If not a 1911, I'm a fan of the SIG P-220 Carry. Can be a little hard to find 'em, they're spendy, but a great quality pistol. Also have two Taurus PT-145s (pre-rail versions) that have been 100% reliable, one is tremendously accurate, once the long trigger pull is mastered. I've got an M&P-45C, but would just as soon carry the full-size model; the size-weight-capacity trade-off doesn't make the compact substantially easier to carry or conceal for me.

Briefly owned an XD-S, but frankly, couldn't stand shooting it -- unless it was going to be the only gun I carried, it's so different from even other polymer-framed compact/subcompact pistols, it just wasn't worth keeping it for me. I'll take a larger package, more weight and extra capacity over a pistol that isn't fun to shoot anytime.

I would add the Taurus 24/7 compact as well. Mine has always functioned flawlessly.

Friend has a P220 Compact Equinox that i absolutely love. cannot afford one but if i was looking for a compact .45, that would be my choice.
