I'm seriously thinking about buying a 9mm carbine (JRC) with a 16" barrel and I currently load X-treme plated bullets. Does anyone have experience in using plated in these guns? They say that there'll be a 100-150fps increase in velocity and unfortunately I don't have access to a chrono so I should make sure that I don't exceed 1500 fps as X-treme recommends. Their bullets are double-struck and have a thicker plating than either Ranier or Berry. My current pistol load is 6.1-6.2 gr of AA#5, 115gr plated RN, OAL 1.145. Based on the data I've seen, that should be giving me a velocity just under 1100 in my 4" barrel pistols. I guess what I'm really asking is what kind of real world velocity changes has anyone seen when shooting pistol caliber carbines. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
