Personally, I think these things look atrocious. I understand that the large mass of metal may be needed to support the forces that the stock may be subjected to, but it just looks too massive to me and it ruins the aesthetics of the whole back half of the weapon.

If you can do it more svelte, then cool. Like Sam says, some patent research would be a good idea. Sometimes these types of patents can cover the whole concept and not just the specific materials and dimensions.

Same unit (but for the PAP) in the pics I posted, they just have the short ACE stock mounted.

Ah yes, that's the ACE "ARFX" stock as opposed to the regular skeleton stock for the modular folding block adapter.

I'll be drilling and tapping the rear trunion of my PAP when the eStamp clears; it shouldn't be too difficult. I'll be using the Manticore triangle folder along with a Storwerkz folding adapter screwed into the rear trunion. There's a slight angle to the trunion, but since I'll be using irons this should be just fine. It's the easiest way to get the stock type I want without having to remove rivets, gut the trunions and refinish the gun. That, and I just can't get behind the looks of the USMachinegun adapter pieces.

If my drilling and tapping goes awry, I'll simply use a small backing plate, washers and nuts to secure the bolts to the trunion. Using high quality bolts and refraining from butt-stroking anyone, I think it's gonna be just fine.

What size exactly are the hanguards (for what model ak). I want hogue railed guards for a pap but im not sure on which to order. Thanks.

PAP's are yugo. Any railed HG that will fit an M92 (Or M85 if your PAP is 5.56) will fit I think. you should check out akfiles.com. I'm sure you'd find a wealth of info/input there.

Yep, M92s and M85s are a bird of another feather. They have longer handguards than other Krinkovs. The front cap of the handguard is also fatter than a traditional 16" AK. You might be able to get other handguards to fit, but you're looking at significant modifications.

I don't think the Hogue offerings are gonna work. If you want rails, you might look at the Midwest Industries offering, or the one made by Samson.

Also one more question... the dust cover, is their any chance of getting a railed dust cover for it, I spent many hours looking and all I can find are people talking about straitening the stock one with the sight on it like I have. thanks.

The hinged topcover is a bit of a Krinkov "feature." It's nice because you get a longer sight radius than you otherwise would if it had a traditional AK rear sight. I haven't heard of anyone replacing it outright with a railed version, but there are lots of folks who drill the top cover and bolt a picatiiny rail into it. Stormwerkz offers one here. One potential problem is having the bolt carrier making contact with the bolt heads inside the cover.

I'm gonna be sticking with iron sights on this one. I plan on blacking out those distracting numbers on the rear sight blade and I'll most likely open it up a little bit with a small file. It seems really narrow considering the close proximity of the front sight post.
