3/19 WHAT!!!!!!!!
Well after looking at the daste on the computer, then checking the calendar, it is only wednesday.
After awaking this morning, in My drug induced mind, from having back surgery yesterday, I was thinking it was Thursday, but scrolling across the guide button on the direct TV I did`nt see any Life Below Zero listed and I was thinking "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!" oh yeah sure, now I have to wait until tomorrow. LOL

OH NOOOOOooo, I must have mistaken on the day of the show, I thought it was on on Thursdays

For some reason it was not on, Comcast, "on demand", last night when I searched for it.

Most of the episodes are on YouTube. You can watch them there or download them for viewing at your leisure. I have downloaded every episode available and watch them whenever I want.I just had on National Geographic Channel and they are saying the first episode of the new season is coming on April 17.The is good news for all of us LBZ junkies.

I do`nt know if they have them on netflix or not, but then, if they did, I`d have to buy a bachine that I could streamum to the TV with.
I got too many boooolits to buy to go and spend moneys on a bachine, I mean machine.

Hey Chip, Was watching the show last night where you and Agnes were out moose hunting. What caliber rifle was she using? Is the reason you don't carry a gun a traditional Alaskan thing or something to do with tribal hunting laws. I also thought it was funny how excited your daughter was over having heart and tongue soup. I like venison heart but it sure isn't anywhere near the size of that moose heart. Also my wife was wondering if Erik broke his hand when he caught it in the trap?

I too watched it last night, I got caught up on the past several weeks that I missed it.

Addicted to show = BUT

Again its Sue that drives me to use the mute button when she is on - I get hoarse yelling at the TV [ and my wife gets pissed at me ].

She EJECTS a loaded round from her bolt gun in her cabin?.

She handles her guns like they belong to someone else.

She made a HUGE deal about being a good shot = MISSED a can at 100 yards with a scoped rifle ???.

THEN she shoots at 2 elk and MISSES,to then stalk them and finally shoot one,to run her gun dry at the next shot = OMG.

And she stated she would get 130 pounds from each ?,sorry but I think she must be thinking about white tail deer and not elk !!.

I am sad that she is the best they can find,AFTER seeing you and your family [ Caribou ] doing it the hard way AND feeding so many with so little.

Hell,if you and your's had her ARMED CAMP = you would have too much food in the larder to use in a year.

Weren't those "elk" really caribou? Yep. Caribou are significantly smaller than elk.

I enjoy the show but don't get too caught up in the details due to obvious editing manipulations to create drama. Did they miss two shots before they hit that critter? Maybe, or maybe they showed some other shots as "misses" to build tension. I think Chip has mentioned this.

Pretty sure Agnes, a couple weeks ago, had a bolt action rifle when firing at a muskrat or such from a boat. They cut away, and then she suddenly had a lever action in her hands. Huh?

But I still really enjoy the show. I just don't accept what they show as what really happened.

She try's SO hard,and I am more annoyed that Chip cannot do what I bet he does well = take game.

That Mosin is a "bit" long and heavy for her,I wish she had my M-44 instead of her long model.

BUT she does take the needed game.

And HELL YES to the idiotic editors = causes me to ponder if ANY is real,or just the editors playing games.

Edititing is sloppy if that is SO easy to spot by those such as I [ untrained ].

Elk / Caribou

Sorry about my obvious mistake = BUT 130 pounds from a critter that large ?.

If a white tail can actually bring in 100 pounds [ on a large deer ] then that seems a bit of a waste of meat to me.

BUT ,then again I don't actually expect Sue to be correct about too much.

I do give her 'some' [ a little bit ] of credit for actually living there.

But that seems to be due to the fact she is a VERY anti-social person,and I feel sorry for the poor cameraman that has to listen to her = drone on,and on,and on about ---- herself.

I've shot a LOT of white tails, but never even seen one that would give 100 pounds of meat let alone shot one that big!

I've shot a LOT of caribou too and it would be more realistic to get 130 pounds of MEAT from a caribou. I always boned out the ones I shot.

Keep in mind, those weren't big caribou that she shot too.

And, YES she is the worst part of the show! lol

I have seen bits and pieces over the past few weeks including a scene where a man is reloading. What cartridge is that? Looks like a short fat round but my tv distorts stuff to a point it's unbelievable at times.

We totally agree on the worst part of the show = the mental case .

But in Western NYS we have some WELL fed farm area deer that go 200+ pounds.

If boned out,that is a lot of meat.

I have had elk steak and it was AMAZING.

I was hoping she did not leave most of the meat in the field = as I expected she might.

Shot 2 boo while stationed in AK. Together I took home 100lbs of meat. Wanton waste is a is a really big deal. All edible meat must be removed to camp, home wherever, before you take antlers etc. Even on the north slope, if it were made known, she would be in deep doo doo leaving edible meat. The only big game animal that the meat can be left is Brown bear.

I have a question that's been on my mind for some time. I try not to ask but since it is pass the supper time I'd think it is okay now to ask....

To Chip (Caribou), where do you guys go to use the toilet?

Now I know if you are outside the village then just dig a hole, put an outhouse on top & call it good. Next year, go dig anothet hole and repeat.

But you are in a village.... and the permafrost does not permit a septic tank, so..... ?

As I recall being quite intrigued by the cartridge as well, I made a point to listen to him later. He shot a moose in a bog and referenced his "325" and again later said he was hunting beaver with his 22 magnum but brought his "325" for bear protection. I take it therefore that he was referring to the 325 WSM.

I was quite impressed with the couple moose hunting and her with that great long M-N!!! I don't see the show very often but I recall her being a good shot and very handy with field dressing.

The continuity errors in editing are rather annoying.

I cannot speak for Chip's personal situation, but most established Alaskan bush communities to my knowledge have indoor plumbing in the central areas of town. I know Nome does for sure, which requires additional engineering to keep thawed in the winter.

Our deer, here in the upper mid west are corn and bean fed too, but even though I've shot 200 + pound bucks, you sure don't get 200 pounds of boned out meat!

I shoot a nice big dry doe each year to split with a long time friend, boned out they never have given much over 50 pounds of meat... A nice bigger buck, like this one,



will give about 60 to 65 pounds of pure meat and that's a BIG buck!

I no longer keep the heart, liver, tongue ect... But I do take ALL of the rib, neck and other meat off my deer...
