Rem 700 barrel cut and recrown cost?

I have .308 Rem 700 Varmint (Dick's Special) with the heavy barrel.
Accuracy is poor and I have tried a free floating "sniper" stock, no joy, and a deresonator which helped the most.

Since the barrel is 26" I'm thinking of having it cut and recrowned to about 20" to see if that improves accuracy.

So what is a typical charge for that?

Since it is a $450 gun new maybe I just ought to dump it. I have other .308's (Ruger American and Howa 1500) that shoot great.

The existing crown looks good and since a deresonator improved accuracy a fair amount I'm thinking barrel harmonics.
If the problem was the existing crown why would a deresonator help?

Barrel at 26" is longer than it needs to be really and I'm thinking a shorter barrel might stiffen it up to reduce harmonics.

Since I have an excellent shooting Howa 1500 and an also excellent shooting Ruger American I'm not willing to spend much to improve this 700.

If it starts approaching much more than that then I'll probably just sell the gun.

Yep- I do reload, but I tried a number of different commercial ammos in various weights, from around 147 to 172 grain.
My other .308's aren't very picky, if the 700 requires "special" ammo I don't plan to keep it.

After getting a quote from a local gunsmith of $150 to cut and recrown-
I'm going to let it be someone else's project
