cutting down on barrel lenth, hurt or not.

I currently have an stag model 6 varmint with a 24 in. barrel, but I would really like to have a 20 in. instead. Question is, If I had a competent gunsmith cut the barrell down and recrown it, what are the odds of it not shooting as good. (It is litteraly a 1/2 moa rifle.)

If you have a good gunsmith cut and crown, accuracy should not be effected.
