How do y'all like Berry's bullets ?

I can't shoot lead in my indoor range , so I was thinking about buying some of these .

I am looking at them in 9mm , .38 & .45c .

Do you have a pet load for these calibers ?

Berry's makes a very good line in the calibers mentioned.
I'd also suggest that you check-out RMR, as they offer THR members a 5% discount :)

I've used Berry's & Rainier in 9mm, .40, .357 .45 Colt & .45 auto. Very happy with the results. I use starting loads for jacketed bullets & work up. Don't try to make cat sneeze or magnum loads out them though. 750 fps to 1,100 fps is the safe range for plated, unless they specify higher velocities.

I can get local :

9mm 124 gr. RN/1000 for $86.58

.38 158 gr. FP/1000 for $92.92

.45c 250 gr. FP/500 for $69.16

I use some Berrys plated bullets and some X-Treme plated bullets. I have shot a lot of the Ranier 115 Gr 9MM bullets.

Folks seem to be having success with the new RMR plated bullets.

So far Berry's are all I've used. Only load I've ever had an issue with was power pistol. My bet is I was driving too fast but didn't have a chrnoy when I tried. Maybe I'll load a couple and try again.

Hello...I've been using Berry bullets for my 40 S&W and 9mm for years and they work great.
Tried some Xtreme's in the .40 S&W and the accuracy went away. The only way I could get an accurate Xtreme bullet was to make a max load. Went back to Berry bullets. I use 124gr FN for 9mm and 180gr FN for the .40 S&W. Not as cheap as lead but they are accurate and reasonably priced. I use lead in standard barrels and plated in polygonal barrels.

I've also used oodles of them.

Take note of the FAQ on their website. They recommend using cast lead loading data instead of jacketed data. Also they recommend a light crimp only to avoid cutting into the plating and possibly causing it to separate in flight. For semi auto this is easy since you only want to straighten the case mouths or at most produce a very slight taper crimp. But for revolver loads where you might be used to stronger roll crimping into a cannelure groove you'll want to go for a lighter crimp where you just produce either no pinch or a barely noticeable amount of crimp indenting.

So far I have been impressed with the Berry's 124gr HBFP-TP bullets. It seems they are giving me better accuracy, but I still need to confirm it.

Since we are on the topic of Berry's bullets, does anybody know where you can find the best price on Berry's bullets, especially the 124gr HBFP-TP variety. Power Valley has a good price on them, but they haven't had any in stock for a while now.

Looks like you're going to try some... I also like the RMR Bullets (Rocky Mountain Reloading), especially their thick plated and Match bullets!

For Berry's, you can order direct, or from Powder Valley, or try TJ Conevera.

No matter what you settle on, load 'em up and shoot!

ArtofGolf,

"I'd also suggest that you check-out RMR, as they offer THR members a 5% discount".

I emailed RMR and asked how to get the 5% discount. They said to check with others on the forum to find out how to get the discount. Do you know how to get the discount from RMR?

I have used Berry's for years in 9,40 & 45ACP. They have worked fine for me but
when my existing stocks are used up, I am going to try Extreme's. Their prices are lower and they are always offering special deals like free shipping and discounts on a weekly basis. That said I love MBC cast and most of my loads are MBC when I can use lead. YMMV.

Berrys ?

What is the difference (pros and cons) of the HB hollow base vs the regular plated bullets. I know the TP is thick plated and can take more velocity, but what difference does the hollow base make?
