Welcome to THR Jay!!
Had a question for you about Berry's. Do you guys offer a military discount? Or THR forum members discount?

Can anyone help me out on this question.. I'm reviewing load data from my lymans 49th ed manual and found that lyman's says to use a taper crimp not roll crimp for 9MM. I was looking at buying the RCBS 9MM Carbide die set. Does anyone know what kind of crimp comes with RCBS die set 9MM?

Thanks guys and gals..
Stodd
Rule of thumb, Stodd. Semi-auto rounds=Taper Crimp. Revolver rounds=Roll Crimp. There are some exceptions, but this is the general rule.
You do as you wish, but I always seat my bullets in one operation, and crimp in the next operation. This is a highly discussed topic, but that's the way I do it. Good luck on your first loads, and have fun...Bill.
PS; YES-buy the Carbide Dies..

I ordered direct 1000 100 gr bullets for my 380. They came promptly and were packaged well. They are working fine.

Welcome Jay R. Phillips.

Thanks for the kind greeting! I will try to hit all the questions.
1. The 90gr .32 RN bullet was dropped for the 71gr RN. Unfortunately we did not sell enough of the 90gr so we made the 71gr that was a common weight. I checked in the warehouse and I don't have any left, sorry.

2. We don't have a storefront, but you can pick product up if you call it in a day ahead of time.

3. At this time we don't have a military discount, we do have a law enforcement discount, the orders have to be placed on a department letterhead and ship to the address on the letterhead. If I had my way I would give military service men and women bullets for defending our country, but my name is not on the checks.

Please contact me if you ever have a question, from time to time I come across bullets that we call seconds and I list them on the website. We just found some .40 bullets that have an occasional nose punch depression mixed in with the good bullets. I went through two thousand of them and did not find one, but I was told they are in there. I think they are 180gr FP and will have them online sometime this morning. IF you see a post that I need to address please invite me in, I get a kick reading your posts, there is a great knowledge base here!

Good morning, Jay. It was good talking to you at the last SHOT Show. The 9x25 Dillon is working out well in the Witness platform, by the way.

I'm going to need to place an order fairly soon, since I'm getting low on several calibers.

Take care,

Fred

9x25 Dillon

Glad you are enjoying that caliber, it was a lot of fun to be a part of the load development for that. I am a big fan of the Witness platform, enjoy my limited in 10mm quite a bit.

Berrys does provide good service and nuggets. Thanks to Angie of Berrys. Just received my second order of 60K. They look nice in the new cube boxes. Other than one whole box being punched and drained by the trucking company fork lift. Has anyone seen a long trail of ~988 shiney copper nuggets stretching from UT, NV, ??, PA and WV?? PM me if your brass/copper/lead magnet could collect and deliver them back to me.

Thanks Jay for your answer on the miltary discount thing. It's ok just wanted to ask about it.

Berry pays for the shipping if over $50 correct?

147 Prototype

We did very little testing on the bullet, we ran it to see how the profile would come out. It is basically our .38 158gr HP that was made to a .356 diameter. It has a lot of flat bearing surface so it should shoot very well, but has a very short ogive so you will have to seat it deeper for some barrel throats. I have a prototype of a 124gr RN that we hollow based so it has the same profile as a 147gr RN. We've moved it into the tunnel for testing and I am sure it will come out with top marks. We also bumped up the plating by another .006". I hope to roll it out at the next SHOT Show for the action pistol shooters.

Just ordered 1,000 in 230 gr. RN for my Commander.

I always use stad. to warm velocity load data for pistol bullets.

124 gr. RN w/ 4.5 gr. of W231.

They always ship in the plastic boxes.

I always order direct from Berry's for the free shipping.

I tried their plated 150 gr. FN in my .30-30s but had to down load to much to get stable flight. Might be o.k. for cowboy plinkers, but that's not me. I gave up on plated for rifle loads.

They shut down for "inventory" over the week of th 4th, though I suspect they were really counting 12 oz. cans. :)

I basically love Berry's... but check prices on Zero bullets as well. Try Rose Dist.

Sometimes, inventory permiting, you can get FMJ from Rose for the same price or less.

Happy shooting!

Never been to Utah, but I'd like to visit - maybe in January ;)

Some of the pictures I've seen are breathe taking. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool John Wayne fan, and as any Duke fan knows, he did a bunch of his movies in Monument Valley. That's one place I'd LOVE to see before the Lord calls me home.

By the way, your summers are a bit manly for me. :D

Ya'll come on down to Bama where it is hot and humid. We'll toughen both of you up in no time. :D

Just ordered some 9MM 124 gr RN DS :)) can't wait to get them.. Will order some for 38 spl after i use up my 148 grain DEWC leads.. got about 600 more of them..

Anyone out there use berry's 9MM 124 grain RN DS bullets? I'm trying to see what a good load data for these plated bullets is. I'm using bullseye powder.

Thanks.
Stodd

What FPS should i get up to so the slide will operate correctly? I'm looking at the starting load for a 125 grain jacketed bullet in my manual and it states 3.9 grains of bullseye will get 979 FPS..

I'm going to be using a berry's bullet 124 grains RN.

Thanks,
Stodd
