Can i use Berry's plated bullets in my son's Glock 19? I know you are not supposed to shoot straight lead bullets in them but am wondering if its ok to load up some 9mm with Berry's plated bullets for his Glock. Thanks for your help!

Of course you can.

Go to Berry Bullets website and read the FAQ's.

For that matter, you can shoot cast lead bullets in a Glock if you do it right.
And clean the dang chamber every fortnight or two.

I've been doing it for 15+ years.

I thought about posting that, but then didnt. Its such a divisive issue that gets people fighting and arguing. Interestingly, usually when the fighting starts and you ask people, the ones that are arguing the hardest against lead in a glock barrel are those that have never done it. I think that they like to justify thier fear of trying it.

To the OP, I am not suggesting that you reload lead for your sons Glock right off the bat. If this is your first venture into loading 9mm, I would start with something easier like plated or jacketed just to get some rounds down range and some experience. Then look to lead. My G21 has sure digested a metric butt load of lead and has no problems with it. For many years before Al Gore made the internet popular and all people had to go by were reloading manuals and books guys shot tons of lead through thier Glocks, and they didnt have issues.

Berry's bullets shoot just fine in a Glock. I'll also leave the lead bullets in a Glock discussion alone since I'm in no mood to argue about it.

Its one that anymore I dont bother to comment on usually. If I do I say my peace and dont bother opening the thread again.

I've shot about 2000 Berry's bullets through my Glock 19. They didn't foul the barrel any worse than the FMJ bullets I used. I usually shot about 200-300 rounds per a range trip and clean the gun after every range trip.

I do not own a Glock but a friend does and has had no issues using even lead bullets in his either. You just might have to experiment a bit more to find a good load IMHO. The plated seem to work as well as the FMJ do from what I have seen, just need to load a bit lighter in the propellant department for the same POI in his. YMMV

I shot plenty of lead out of my G21, but eventually grew tired of scrubbing lead out of the bore. Probably the wrong hardness. Was using commercial cast bullets, don't know the brand.

Probably the least helpful post of all time, but my G21 is over 15 years old and still running strong, despite the lead diet in it's early years.

As far as OP question goes on the plated; I've shot TONS of those with no problems whatsoever.

I've used the plated bullets in 9mm, .40, and .45 Glocks with no problems, and no leading.

I have shot 5000+ personally loaded lead rounds through my G23 & G27, both with the stock barrels. I have had no issues with leading the barrel. I am about to begin loading 9MM for my G19 & G26 & all of those rounds will be lead.
