I ordered mine today . I will post pictures & first impressions when I receive it .

Thanks for the replies .

I don't know about other gun retailers on line, but Bud's ships to FFL and if you don't like the gun, you just don't accept from FFL and Buds gives credit. If you accept from FFL and take home. You can't return without restocking charge.

Now is the time to buy em - if you're a collector, a speculator or you really just want a Colt.

It seems like Colt is just trying to move product right now and I've noticed great sales popping up on the Internet.

I would also like to find a SAA .45 with a 5.5" barrel @ a good price .

I have been eyeing the new Colt Railgun Commander lightweight since they announced it at SHOT just a few months ago. Pictures I have seen show a very poorly drawn prancing pony for the price tag it carries. Hopefully they spruce it up some.

CraigC , you have some might nice handguns and they are well dressed . I enjoy seeing your great pictures .

Your roll marks look great . I hope mine looks that good .

We will see how long it takes to arrive . I paid with a E-Check , so that might slow up shipping by a week .

I bought this series 80 new in 1984...

Back then you had to polish everything just to get 'em to feed hollow points. This one will feed empty cases!

I ordered a new 70 series gold cup from buds last week, supposed to show up tomorrow. There was no photo of the gun so im not sure if it will be blue or stainless, I really hope its blue. I thought id better get it before colt is gone.

Wish I had the spare coin to roll the dice like that :D

If you ordered the O5070X, it will be stainless.

If you order an O5870A1, it should be blue (this one has no pics on the Bud's site). The O5870NM is also blue.

what roll of the dice? its either blonde or brunette. either one is nice:)
its the 05870A1 gold cup match.

LOL - or are we really talking about silver-haired vs blue haired? Congrats on ordering the 5870 Gold Cup... That'll be a fine looking blue pistol.

I have seen the series 80 safety system fail.
On a GC that was purchased new and properly maintained.

Just because it's called a safety that doesn't mean it makes everything safe LOL.

Removal is a personal choice and IMHO, no big deal.

Some folks are dangerous no matter what.

Got a Combat Commander Enhanced back in the mid 90's?
Not perfect (couple minor cosmetic issues).
Flawless though 10K rounds.
Trigger at 2.5# or maybe less.........came that way (why I bought it).
Crappy 3 dot sight system.
Even so it chews the X out at 50 ft indoors with boring repeatability.
My Colt hating buds said if they ever were to buy one, it'd be THAT one.

As for GC and wonderment........pops a bigtime Colt guy, his stainless GC was a POS, constantly breaking parts (target loads, just bunches of them).

He sold it after several yrs, and got a Sig.

"...and it's indeed a beautiful blue boy!"

The first thing I thought of was you need to take it out of it's case and let it breathe in some fresh air!

The second thing I thought of was that Bud's mistakenly sent you a picture of Thomas Gainesborough's painting, "The Blue Boy" instead of your Series 70 Gold Cup!

Anyways congrats on the new addition to the family!

pistol came yesterday and its indeed a beautiful blue boy!
Lets see a picture of that new Colt .

I got a email today , mine made it to the shipping department today . I hope to post some pictures by next Friday .

I had the 80 series parts taken out of my newish GCNM, it did improve the trigger. It is more accurate than a 70 series GCNM I used to have.

I compared the triggers on a new 1991 & a new 70 series and I could not tell a difference in the trigger pull . But I bought the 70 series .

The original 70's often had shallow rollmarks. But of the dozens of new 70's I've seen, none had a similar issue.

That was the trade off, you didn't have the letter cratering, but the lettering was often shallower due to the polishing.
