    Questioning the Scout Rifle concept.

To those who say the need to quickly top off your rifle Is never encountered in a hunting situations, I suspect you don't live in an area with an abundance of hogs. I can think of numerous situations where I would have liked more than the four to five rounds I had readily available at the time.

The hunt for the perfect model 29

Glad I could help. They are 29 classics from the 90s. They also made a Classic DX. Good luck on that one. If you don't win they come up from time to time on gunbroker. They are nice revolvers.

    30-30 winchester 200 grain reloads

I cast them myself from a RCBS 180gr FNGC mold. They weigh right at 200gr lubed with a Gas check. I am able to get 2" or so groups at 100 yards out of a couple of Win 94s.

    30-30 winchester 200 grain reloads

Yes I have, I was using a cast 200gr FN with surplus 4895. I was pushing it to 1700-1800 FPS with great accuracy.

    Big Bore AR

The .50 Beowulf is a great round. Mine works fine with standard .223 magazines as do most I know if. Out of a 16" barrel you can push a 335gr at around 1900, a 375 Gr Barnes at 1800 and a 445gr Cast at 1600. I have shot the .450 some and wasn't very impressed with it. Especially with the...

    S&W model 25-9

I have a 4" 25-9. The throats on mine will allow a .452" plug gauge to snugly fit through. A .453" won't even start. It is one of the more accurate handguns that I own. It will shoot circles around My 25-2.

    S&W revolvers now vs. then

Same here, I have all of his books and have read much of his other writings. I am of the personal opinion he is one of the more misquoted firearms authors. He is always credited with pushing things over the limit. As you know, he thought the original Remington .44 magnum loads were too heavy...

    S&W revolvers now vs. then

I would like to know the source too Craig. I know he had a Black powder era .45 colt let go with a load of fine Black and a 300gr bullet in the mid 20s and I seem to recall mention of one S&W cracking a forcing cone. I am always amazed at the scores of revolvers he blew up most of them seem...

What about the new Ruger LCP?

There is a lot of griping about the LCP. I have two one pre recall and one post. They both have been 100% reliable with everything I have put through them. They are more accurate than you would expect. If one interest you buy it, shoot it, and form an opinion yourself. Based on my...

A good hunting load for 250g .35 Whelen? (Deer, HOG, elk) [pics]

.35 Whelen I use a 250-gr Hornady with 58.0-gr of RL 15 in R-P brass and a WLR primer. I get 2525 FPS with ES running around 10 FPS.
