It's also kinda funny by virtue that many (most?) of the guns in current LE and Fed use don't even have manual/external safeties... I have noticed in some shows and movies - including '24' - that a round is already chambered sometimes, and other times not until the firefight breaks out.

Culver City is in Los Antigungeles County, and is also adjacent to the Venice/Palms/Inglewood gangbangers and therefore the special LE units who combat them...so I think it's about as anti-gun as anywhere in SoCal these days.
