What pistol would you take to a combat shooting class?

For my first concealed carry license class here in Texas, I used a Walther P1. It could be concealed, but not in the summer. My buddy, who didn't have a semi-auto, borrowed my Helwan copy of the Beretta 951 Brigadier. Since then, I've shot either an S&W 6906 (12+1 rounds of 9mm) or the same...

The Trejo sounds about right. What a pistol! Thanks for the name.

    Exotic-Novel-Antique-Uncommon-Rare-Weird-Strange-Unique PISTOL you've fired/owned?

I hadn't thought about this incident in years. It involves a gun that I certainly didn't own and never fired, but I did handle it. Please don't tell the feds--- Back in the early 80s I had a friend with a pawn shop. When he got a gun that needed a little work or if it was an unusual piece with...

    Walther PP .32

Decades ago I had a PPK in 7.65 with an aluminum frame. The pistol looked like a chewed up alley tomcat. It shot great, though. I carried it sometimes (illegally that time in Texas, I admit) crossdraw just to left of the belt buckle. As thin and as light as it was (I was thinner and lighter...

    A thread about .32 acp

Speaking of older Berettas, I found a Model 101 35 years ago in a pawn shop, downtown Houston. It had a six inch barrel, the same safety as the Model 70, and adjustable sights above the chamber. Those sights had the smallest adjustment screws I've ever seen. I think I paid $60 for that sweet...

Wife got me an S&w 5906 for fathers day

I've grown fond of the third generation S&Ws, at least in 9mm. They're reasonably accurate, robust, and omnivorous when it comes to ammo. The magazine disconnect is a non-issue for me. I certainly understand why police like the feature, but I'm no cop. The guns can be found at very attractive...

    Most correct, sir.

    A thread about .32 acp

I have a nifty .32 which someone mentioned earlier, a Beretta 70 New Puma. However, regarding it's calibre, I prefer to use the European designation, considering the origins of this fine little pistol. The aluminum frame makes it easy to tote, the crossbolt safety makes it quick into action, and...

Ruger P95 Discontinued. Last of the P Series

I don't have any personal interest in the P95 (or indeed, any of the centerfire Ruger semi's), but I mourn their passing. It's another indication that we're losing an entire class of weapons. Metal hammer guns seem to be going the way of the dinosaur. I've tried the plastic striker-fired pistols...

    A thread about .32 acp

I had an aluminum framed PPK in 7.65 that was a joy to shoot and literally disappeared in a cross draw position. I miss that gun more than my third wife. I currently own a Beretta 70 New Puma in the same calibre. It's a bigger gun than the PPK but shoots as well. I carried the M 70 in lieu of...

    CZ Rami

I tried to like the G 26, but finally decided that striker fired plastic pistols aren't for me. My vote goes to the RAMI. Now, if CZ will make a slim pistol...

    Interesting Find Today Mauser HSC

One thing I forgot about the HSc that I liked. The safety blocks the firing pin but doesn't drop the hammer. It can be carried cocked with the safety applied and be ready single action with a flip of the thumbto take it off safe. Not quite cocked and locked, but close to it.

    S&W 3913 LS or SIG 239

+1 for the 3913. It's a great carry piece. Most are omnivorous. If taken care of, it'll probably appreciate in value more than the SIG.

Rumor of a new carry gun from CZ?

The world's full of fat gripped guns with rails. They have their places in the scheme of things. There are other places, however. I'd love a slim short CZ, something the size of a 3rd generation S&W like the 3913. I wonder if CZ wants to build it, though.
