Any Police Dept.'s use the Hi-Power?

There are several agencies in Texas (about 20 that I know of) that approve the BHP for duty use. In several it is quite popular among female personnel as it is the friendliest hi capacity automatic for persons with small hands. I know several officers who carry them.

    Help identify S&W M&P

I may be nuts, but the barrel countour back near where it hits the frame looks like a colt police positive or DS barrel. I have a picture of the back of the barrel on an old Police positive, but I am unable to upload it. It looks very similar to the one on that M&P.

    Colt detective special help

I have a 3" DS-II just like that one. It wasn't a custom shop gun, they just didn't make many of them (I think about 2000 total). Mine shoots very well.

    Sig P210

I have a P-210, a very old one that I obtained used. I have carried it a tremendous amount, and shot is quite a bit. I have 3 holsters that fit it: one Milt Sparks Watch 6 made for a P-210, a Sparks 55BN for a P210, and a safariland model 200 for a colt government model, which it fits...

Why did US LEO's go to semis? Do you want wheelguns back?

DMF: I sort of agree, depending on the nature of your work. In patrol, most people end up doing a tremendous amount of their work alone, and when a bad situation arises, often the attribute of that situation which makes it really bad is that it is just you and the bad guy (I would rather...

Problems going from semi-autos to revolver?

You can try this: Put a penny on top of the barrel rib (or frame if its an old skinny barrel). practice dry firing double action until you can do six dry fires consistantly wthout the penny falling off. Your dry firing should be one consistant pull straight through with NO staging of the...

    Hi-Power Help PLEASE

Your trigger spring is probably improperly installed, bent or broken. There is a piece pinned to the trigger which sticks upward from the trigger (called the elevator). the elevator, when properly installed is tensioned to the rear by the trigger spring. When the trigger is pulled, the...

What got you on the road to modify your 1911?

My first 1911 was 50 years old when a combination of the disconnector wearing and a pretty amateur trigger job by the previous owner made the weapon go full auto. At that point, I no longer had a choice but to fix it.

    1911 questions

Older colt gold cups were delivered with 2 recoil springs. One was standard spring which made the recoil of full power hardball (230 gr FMJ) ammo managable and prevented frame battering. The second one was lighter and was set up to allow proper ejection with light loaded semiwadcutter...

Help, Talk me outta gettin G36

Because the 32 is a better gun. 14 rounds of 357 sig vs 6 rounds of 45 in the same size pistol? Its not that its a bad gun, glock just makes better ones. (like the 30) If it absolutely positively must be a 45, oK, but otherwise, you can do better.

Why did US LEO's go to semis? Do you want wheelguns back?

I started off carrying a smith Model 28 Highway patrolman 4" 357. It was perfectly sufficient for my purposes. Really, the only advantages I get from my present automatic are night sights and a more corrosion resistant finish. I switched to an automatic voluntarily, and having gotten used...

Should I Wait For Next Sig?

The Sig DAO action conversion on the classic pistols and the DAK trigger are entirely different animals. the DAK is much lighter and smoother and in practice feels like a revolver witha rather light trigger return spring. If you want a DAO Sig, get a DAK, it is really pretty amazing.
